Re: Nvidia Shield TV

I picked one up because I also have a 4K TV. It's one of the streaming devices that will output in 4K.
Playing some of the games if actually pretty fun. I've not run Kodi yet, but probably will soon. Plex runs fine, as does a ton of other apps.

Re: What's this stuff about "military grade" flashlights?

They say it will stun someone. Stop a grizzly in its tracks. (yes, they said that.) Anyone know? The Shadowhawk X800 Tactical Flashlight is currently the most popular tactical flashlight of choice for most Americans due to it's powerfully disorienting "strobe mode" that allows the user to...

Re: Springfield XD Mod 2 and Sig P320

Received the SubCompact frame from Sig (9mm). Trijicon night sights are standard on their conversion kits. This weapon shoots very well, clear sight picture on the full size and subcompact. Both frames feel good in the hand. Takes about 2 minutes to switch from one frame to the other. Fired differen...

Re: Apple vs PC

If you work in corp and want a Mac-like PC, the Dell XPS is excellent. That's what I got my daughter for college, the XPS 13, plus an extra monitor when at her desk. She loves it. You can get them from the Microsoft store, sometimes with a deal where it's cheaper than from Dell, and it comes withou...

Re: Mr. Money Moustache/Early Retirement

There's a lot of problems. Not the least of which is easy access to student loans and every parent telling their kid they have to go to college, both of which allow for a ton of demand, and prices to skyrocket. However, lots (say anything over 20K) of student loan debt is dumb. Lots of student loan...

Springfield XD Mod 2 and Sig P320

Considering some new purchases. What I'm thinking is getting a sub-compact and regular size of the same gun, same caliber, to have around the house and to carry. I went to the local range with a "try before you buy" rental program. Basically rent an hour or more of range time, take two han...

Re: Economic DEATH SPIRAL?!?!

I don't know about a death spiral, but the industry I work in involves advanced manufacturing, and the sales of heavy machinery for this industry I consider a leading indicator for the upcoming economy. Machine sales are down, manufacturing indices are down, less work is being released to manufactur...

Re: American Citizens are being Poisoned in Flint, MI

Not much. Basically one poor black city, Detroit, was charging a lot of money to another poor black city, Flint, for water. Flint's city council voted 7-1 to change to the Karegnondi water source, which will take several years to finish the infrastructure of. One day later - Detroit, filled with com...

LOL, I went to school in Flint. Nasty hooker on the corner, and pizza delivery guy got car jacked, and had his pizza's stolen, outside our place.

Flint is the armpit of Michigan, that's why the News media doesn't care.
Flint's department of water, and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality fucked up real time.

First time I flew it was on a flight to Tampa for a college reunion. It worked out we had some partiers on board, so I ordered drinks and chips and had a good time. I'm actually glad they charge for a carry on rollerbag, all airlines should do that. But everything is an upcharge, and it's better to ...

Watched it for fun last night. The kettlebell guy was done perfectly. They mention @fit a few times, and could have had great comic potential, but didn't take advantage of it.

Re: 2015-16 Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon - anyone got one?

there is always the horse and buggy option. So just a quick trip into town for a loaf of bread and milk just saddle up the horse and if you have to pick up more things or want to take the family into town you can hitch up the buggy. Not many features to go wrong and small enough to maneuver around ...

Re: Sci Fi geeks- Michael Vey?

When my son was an early teen, he read Enders Game, Game of Thrones, Eragon series, Hunger Games, Divergent series, he also read Lord of the Rings in 7th grade, so don't discount the classics.

Also, both my son and I really liked Elizabeth Moons Vatta wars series.

Start him on Heinlein's Starship Troopers, and if he likes it, move him up to other Heinlein classics.

Re: STAR WARS VII Offical prerelease thread!

I liked it very much. I would probably make it 4th best of the whole series. There was nothing ground breaking plot wise, but I did like the characters Finn and Ray, Kylo Ren not so much, and the Chick in armor needed more screen time. I think Abrams did a good job with the first new Star Trek movie...
