Re: What's volume training?

Smet, with all due respect look at the weights at the start of your journal (1.5 years ago) and the weights used now. The intensity/volume is roughly the same. My view is that your aversion to any sort of effort involving heavy weight will forever impinge any muscle gain. Look up the IPF female reco...

Re: Reverse grip bench press

I used a football bar tonight on the bench for the first time. Really friendly on the shoulders and hits the triceps and chest pretty hard with less weight than regular bench. A lot of work to stabilise. Would definitely recommend trying that instead of reverse grip if you have access to one.

Re: Reverse grip bench press

I tried these the other day. Worked up to 275 for a couple of reps but racked it because (a) I was terrified of dropping the bar on my face and (b) it's tough on my wrists.

Hey... 5 years ago I was failing sets of 5 in the squat with 70kg.... I started in the same place.

Strength is a skill. Practice consistently and you get good at it!

Re: What's volume training?

The key smet is not "how much is hugh volume for THIS session or THIS cycle". It's all related to past and future performance. If you do 10x10 this session, where are you going to go next session and the session after and a decade from now? How are you going to cycle that training so you can improve...

Re: What's volume training?

Call it the number of sets multiplied by the number of reps multiplied by the weight used above say 70% for strength and perhaps 60% for hypertrophy. That's your volume per session. Add together all the sessions in a cycle and that's your overall tonnage. Did you do more overall tonnage this cycle t...

Re: How to train yourself

Smet- you just posted in the other thread that you lost 6kg of muscle or a routine of 8-10 reps 3x weekly.

Serious question - are you progressively increasing the volume at the same weights, or steadily increasing the weight you're using over time?

Re: How to train yourself

Bruh, your author says that some people should try lowering their volume FOR STRENGTH TRAINING when moderate to high volume isn't working. That argues against all training volumes (cardio, strength, etc) being equal. Seeing as how more cardio leads directly to more adaptation. And it's an argument ...

Re: How do you train?

I train for powerlifting, although it's been a while since I've competed. I primarily train to get stronger in the three powerlifts, with secondary goals of performing well at competition (when I pull my finger out and compete) and a third goal of getting stronger at other gym lifts. I've been very,...

Re: Training spk for rlz

Component Based Periodisation So a little insight to how it came about.... I Can touch and go 200-220kg bench most sessions, but constantly failed a 200kg paused at competitions, and had trained pausing lots in sessions, but could never hit 200 paused or in comp. Due to a simultaneous move in job a...

Yes, although it doesn't necessarily need to be set up that way. He talks about amalgamating to 3 x per week etc.

For reference, this is the same guy who posted that bench stuff.

Training spk for rlz

There seems to be a dearth of shite being posted on the Training Forum lately. So let's cleanse. (These are all taken from the same thread, with the first and then each second response being posted by one of the strongest raw, drug-free lifters I'm aware of (815kg total @ 98kg). Re: How to train yourself

From my coming E-Book "It is Freakin Easy to Get Jacked", ...show up 3-4x a week minimum at the gym. Do 25-50 total reps on each exercise in that day's combination of squats, deadlifts, benches, rows, pull-ups, military presses, curls, dumbbell presses, dips or triceps extensions, calf raises, and ...

Re: Quantitative obesity research

Surely it needs to be more complex than that Bucket. Presumably; 1. Your body doesn't account for CICO on a strict 24 hour basis. I don't know digestive timescales etc. but it would seem like CICO works over a period of time. Therefore if you come off a diet, for the first week you may still be in a...
