Finally on dvd, Robert Duvall and Joe Don Baker take on the Mob. This is one bad ass 70's movie!

I liked it.
Also in the very odd vein...check out Morriss' Vernon Florida. (The turkey hunter is the real deal.)

Get Low
Robert Duvall stars as a hermit who wants to have his funeral before he dies. I understand it's based on a true story from the 1930's. Bill Murray and Sissy Spacek also star.
If you're a Duvall fan you'll eat this one up.

Re: Stay Hungry
Rafelson said on the commentary that when they were filming this Arnold told him he would be governor of California one day. Don't know if that's true or not.
For the record, RG is still going strong at 93 years old.

Stay Hungry
Have any of you even heard of this movie? It's way off the radar. I'm a fan of Five Easy Pieces, so I went through Rafelson's movies on netflix and queued it up a while ago. It's not a great film by any stretch but I really enjoyed watching it. Back before Jaws and Star Wars movies weren't expected ...

Re: Graphic novel suggestions
I just read Alan's War a few months ago and really enjoyed it. It's the true story of a man who was in the US Army at the end of WWII in Europe. There is almost no combat or action in it at all. It's just his observations during training, the end of the war, and then living in post war Europe. He me...

I'm not one to jump on the band wagon with these best seller lists but I can't put this fucker down. I was ordering some crap on amazon and had to get something else for free shipping so I picked it up. Since I'm not a 12 year old girl, I didn't read Seabiscuit but Hillenbrand is a great writer. It'...

Re: Valhalla Rising
I think this may be one of my all time favorite movies. I was doubtful with my first viewing but with a second I'm almost positive I love it. Thanks to netflix I haven't bought a dvd in over a year but I bought this one. Two weeks after I first watched it I was still thinking about it. That doesn't...

MacGruber
Please forgive me but I laughed my ass off at this movie. It's a spoof of MacGyver and 80's action movies. If you like these clips rent it, if not skip it. http://www.hulu.com/watch/119796/saturday-night-live-macgruber http://www.hulu.com/watch/19684/saturday-night-live-macgruber-father-and-son http...

Re: WWII Movies-what say you, IGX?
Best WWII movie I've seen. No politics or whitewashing, just "here's what happened as accurately as we can show it."
Also +1 for Cross of Iron, a very underrated Peckinpah flick.

Re: Horror fans mark your calendars!
Queue it up for Halloween bitches! This was a made for tv movie that aired about 30 years ago. It's a solid little horror film featuring great performances by Charles Durning and Larry Drake. And since there are no f-bombs and very little gore, you can use it to give your kids nightmares. "Bubb...

Scorsese's worst film. Some reviewer called it a two and a half hour cell phone commercial.

This was a really good movie.
I have to say that the junky with the Walther stole the whole movie IMO. That creepy little fucker is going to wind up with an oscar someday. He gave an amazing performance in a throw-away bit part.
