Hasn't come on here just yet, but Grantland ran a pretty favorable preview of it today.

That hebro Andy Greenwald wrote it I think.

Baff you've got to watch it broheim. We're the only ones here capable of educating the masses on what is hip. I'll need your help on this.

I'm all in. We're just waiting for 10pm to come around so we can get going.

I have to be honest though. I don't really trust Jews on anything other than running scams on people, let alone pop culture reviews like the one Greenwald wrote, so I had tempered expectations.

Now with your initial review, I'm really intrigued.

Okay. We're good to go.

I'm co-signing on this one the whole way. Let's get this bitch to 100 episodes over the next decade or so.

Alright, all you over educated, low T mouth breathers get on the fucking program and watch this show. It's got all the requisite ingredients for stimulating conversation. Now I know some of you inbred fuckers can't string together three words that make sense let alone three sentences but Baff and I are gonna help you with this. So here's what we have: it's set in the early 80's, 1981 to be exact so we can talk about "historical accuracy" such as, clothes, cars, mannerisms, music (more on this topic later) etc. We can segue into personal stuff, like maybe Proto will tell us how his uncle touched his peepee in 1981 and he never told anyone till just now and maybe that's why he can't eat blueberries. We can discuss the actual plot lines and subtexts of each episode. And HOLY SHIT WE'VE GOT KNIFE FIGHTING!! Hopefully the shaggy Furminator himself will weigh in on this...is it systema? Silat? Krav Maga? Secret KGB fighting techniques finally discovered and revealed on tv for the first time? Damn, we may need our own forum just to discuss this show! But don't do it Mario as a joke cuz fuckers will spin out of control just like the last time. Back to the music. Think of the arguments we can have over just the music! Phil Collins was so fucking annoying and overrated but that song was perfect when that guy got garrotted. Or was what seemed a 10 minute LP version of Fleetwood Mac's "Tush" necessary in that chase scene? Some of you younger asslickers don't even know who these musicians even are!!! And what about Keri Russell? I thought she looked great but maybe she doesn't appeal to some of you but certainly there's some nekkid pics out there...get on it!! C'mon guys let's get into this show! I've never asked for much but I'm asking now. So pretty please with fucking sugar on top, clean the car and watch this show.

It opens with (the allusion of) a blowjob. It has a certain soundbite where you hear where a certain females fingers went.

She kicks a dude's head through a wall. FBI guys live right across the street.

It's 1981, before the 80's completely took a shit. Incidentally, that was two years before I was born...

It has the makings to be the best show on FX since The Shield. Potential. Justified still holds that spot right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if it stays that way.

HOWEVER..... since it's a show about the 80's, I don't expect any negroes to have large roles like you sometimes see on that piece of shit show about the "bikers" and "1 %'ers" called Sons of Anarchy, or SOA for the faggots in the room.

All of the above that Shape said, most of what I said, and especially the no-nignog potential for the show should have this forum blowing up like the old UP motherfucking K.

Tell me I'm wrong.

I'll check it out on Hulu, and join the conversation with a month delay.

Pinky, hilarious but seriously now, we need you to be a little more current than that. I realize you are feverishly working on the $1 Trillon dollar platinum coin/budget dealio that is gonna require a fucking ton of graphs and shit to break it all down for the masses but you can spare a fucking hour on Wednesday nights.

Excellent follow up Baff. After the show I had the wife jam a couple of fingers up in me along with a bj and it was pretty cool. I could not stop telling her some secrets I've kept. The technique works.

I really expected Pinky to be a little more open about this after it seemed like he made real progress in the, was it the Homeland Thread?

I didn't have anyone around to help me with my secret telling, so I just um, told myself some secrets. It's that good of a show.

It's not my fault FX requires Hulu to wait (I think) 30 days before streaming content.

It is my fault I don't have cable, but I'd rather not focus on that.

As both a person and an economist, I'm very disappointed in you. I hope you realize your opportunity cost of not having cable is the inability to make relevant timely snarky comments about the show.

website for the show hosts the pilot for anyone to see. As one who finished high school on a usaaf base in England and enlisted to serve a two year term in Germany I thought the show captured the spirit of the times just about perfectly.
For further reading see Vladimir Rezuns' books written as Victor Suvarov. See also "the sword and the shield" by Vasilli Mitrokhin.
on a side note, as an adoptive parent it is interesting to learn that the KGB planted a rumor in Latin America that nortenos adopted kids for purposes of organ harvesting. That rumor has survived to present day.

Guys c'mon...we need more discussion about the actual episode. What did you think of the high-waisted, acid washed jeans she was wearing? I know some of you fuckers are still rocking that shit. How 'bout that beat down of the perv in his backyard? Furminator approved?

Better than network crap but most FX originals series are. The high waisted jeans brought back sweet memories. She just needs to hit the town with some big hair! I don't buy leaving a guy in the trunk for x amount of days. No matter how hard she cleaned there would have been some kind of stank in there when the FBI dude poked around. Nice twist that she got revenge on her, well, I won't spoil everything. The payback on the perv gives us a reason to root for the "Bad guys".

I liked the line where she said the kids would be socialists or union activists. Parents can dream.
The FBI guy is not really believable to me yet.

So yeah, decent start with a lot of chance for development. This didn't slam me right out of the gate like you guys but it seems like the kind of show, that once it grabs you, it'll be a death grip.

The blowjob early on, and finger up the ass comment was a decent start.

it's legit. keri russell still got it goin' on. excellent, well shot violence. i personally don't like high waisted, acid washed jeans as much as some of you fucks seem to, but they seem to have gone to great lengths to get shit right.

there's some really good shit on TV nowadays and with this and banshee, as well as some of the more established shows like homeland, i'm fairly happy watching the tube on occasion.

Amazing how Keri Russell hadn't aged a day in 21 years.

Feel like it might have needed to ease into the stakes - FBI guy already getting snoopy is going to make that a tough road to follow for the long-term.

i think shows are all a bit rushed now since they get cancelled at the drop of a hat these days.

Excellent! Let's keep the dialogue going. Uhh, does anyone know anything specifically that thingy they had in the captive Russian's mouth? Looks like it let him breath relatively easily but kept him from making noise. I have a "friend" that is interested in purchasing this kind of device.

The thing about FX is that they've let some shows go on and on, and then others get cancelled in a hurry.

Thief was one. The one with Andre Brower (Brougher?). That one still gives me a little bit of a chubber to think about, and it didn't make a whole season.

Same with Terriers.

But back to The Americans.

Did the guy in the trunk have to piss and shit himself? How rad is it that Keri Russell's the one who is all "Socialist! Union Activist! Mother Russia motherfucker!" And her husband's all "$3 million. Our kids are 'murikkans. $3 MILLION!"?

How about the way they got rid of that dude's body?

And no negroes. All my IGx bretheren who put a heavy premium on such features.... there will be very, very few members of the darker tint in this show.
