i have some of these. They work as a regular cuff key, but just barely. I sheared off part of the nub (it's softish plastic), but still managed to get the cuffs open. Those keys are slightly oversized, making it difficult to insert in the keyhole.

Using as intended (to escape when your hands are restrained behind your back) is almost impossible. You'll need to contort your wrists and fingers, it's hard to find get the key in the keyhole when you can't see or feel the keyhole, and even harder when the key is out of spec. Furthermore, it's hard to get any real leverage on the key. I wouldn't practice at home without someone to bail you out because there is a very real chance you won't able to open them.

Due to my work and location, I'm probably more at risk of an illegal detention than 99.9% of Americans, and I think hiding handcuff keys on my person is a bit overkill. If you are an average joe and you are worried about needing a hidden handcuff key, your priorities are out of place.
