Informers exposed. Good or bad?

Post by Turdacious » Sun Jan 20, 2019 5:12 pm

Latvia’s prime minister defended the decision to publish files on informers for the Soviet secret police after the release revealed previously unknown information on well-known figures in the Baltic country.

The files, hidden from public view for more than two decades, have raised questions about collaboration with the Soviet regime, while a debate on their authenticity and some gaps in the records have complicated the process. ... ek-closure

Especially those who spent time behind the iron curtain, what do you make of this?

If authentic, its a great idea. The truth sets you free. The idea of informing on your neighbors just sucks anyway, but I guess they're used to rolling that way in Paranoid-land.
