yes, the 12-minute foundation routine has been helpful.

i'm also trying the hanging bit. it provides some immediately pain relief, but it's too early to say whether it's making my elbow bulletproof.

i'm also doing the basic rotator cuff stuff with a theraband, leg swings, and a simple one-legged drill.

i'm a one-man rehab clinic.

The woman in the video (Katy Bowman) talks about this in her book- Move Your DNA. The first exercise in the video is meant to wake up the rhomboids. You allow gravity to pull your torso down (relax) and bring your shoulder blades together instead of actively squeezing them together. Going up, you move the spine toward the ceiling and spread the shoulder blades without rounding the back or tucking your pelvis. There should be no change in the curve of your spine the entire time.

The natural position of the shoulder blades should be wide and relaxed, not squeezed together. Also your ribcage should be down. That plays a huge part.
I watched a few videos last night that talked about how it's a motor control issue first and foremost.

If you don't have motor control, how does her stuff help?

Shit, Turd, you had to bring up the knees. Link to the foundation stuff, please? I remember there was a thread but it seemed focused on the back and that wasn't an issue.

I have a history of knee- specific problems, beginning with a hyper extended knee and strained ACL in college.
I do have tight hips, flat feet, and a job that has me on my feet way too much. So my knee issues flared up recently, after my feet started hurting almost all the time.

Feet are tied to the hips. And the knee and lower back. Read the Katy Bowman stuff.

Donnie Thompson has been talking about fixing the feet first, before you do anything.

Ryan, after hearing her fucking Rogan podcast, or part of it, I'm not sure I can read the Katy Bowman stuff. Is it in the library?

Katy could have a PHD in porn and awesome and I wouldn't be able to listen to her for another 30 seconds. She is so phenomenally disconnected from the place she moved... (Home of Marshall White, Sarge Allen, Jesse Marunde and the rest of the original Sequim Strongman Crew) So utterly clueless about basic shit shit she seems to crow about and.....She has a grating voice.

That Podcast put me off Rogan and the whole Onnit fuckery...Ugh. Tragically dumb.

I noticed the knee bennies when I ramped up my running and biking.

The keys for me seem to be:
1. In the one leg forward one leg back part, make sure to keep the front knee behind the foot and focus on keeping your hips square. The part where you are really focusing your weight on your front leg seems to be the part that helps most with knees.
2. In the parts where you have your fingers on the ground, make sure your hammies are shaking. Not sure why, but that shaking seems to make a huge difference-- the more the better.

Alternate doing this barefoot and with shoes to see what works best for you. I find that I get the biggest benefit when I do this at the end of a workout or a hard day, rather than when I'm fresh.

Thanks, Turd. I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Yes, it's there. She can be annoying, but I find she really knows her shit and makes it simple to understand. That's why I try to read her shit instead of listen to it.

I've been using several of her recommendations with good results.

Just bought the hard copy of her new book Whole Body Barefoot.

Ryan has a massive boner for that Bowman chick.

He even made me read through 274 pages of nuttiness! Something about moving around so I squish my cells back into shape.

A lot of people have been messaging me for updates on my situation, so I thought I'd share.

I've been doing thoracic mobility exercises given to me by my chiro and some of the first few 'exercises' that big titted gal in the video recommended, and my thoracic spine feels about 85% better. Everything feels more efficient, from squats to curls to bench.

Thought I should share this. I have been having elbow tendinitis for the past month or so and it had gotten really bad over the past couple of weeks. I had been doing that Tyler Twist with one of my JS bands to no avail. Did a few sets of db hammer curls over the past week and it didn't really seem to help. Well, last night I did some db hammer curls, JS band press downs with a mini band, some stretching of my wrist in both the hand pulled back in the up position and pulled back with the fingers pointing down, some hanging from the doorway pull-up bar and finally, this exercise I got from DrDonkeyLove that I found way back in my training log; 1) Extend your arm a bit, palm up. 2) Bend your wrist so your hand is perpendicular to your forearm. 3) Squeeze your forearm down near your wrist between your thumb and index finger. 4) Continuing to squeeze extend your and so it's once again parallel to your forearm. 5) Stop squeezing. 6) Repeat the process moving the squeeze point up your forearm. I did that exercise off and on through the day yesterday.

The pain is damn near gone. I don't know which one did it but whatever it was it worked. I'm thinking it was that last exercise and the hanging from the bar. Those were the only ones I hadn't done before, besides the press downs. I don't know. I just know whatever it was it fucking worked.

My wife had some elbow pain, probably from getting thrown from the horse. Aggressive cross fiber massage below the joint helped quite a bit, even though she didn't like it.
