IGX Challenge - 2016

Post by Beer Jew » Mon Dec 07, 2015 11:22 pm

Suggestions? Appreciate not everyone is into strength related shit, so could be a mix of strength and endurance or otherwise.

Ideally utilising equipment that most people have access to, and perhaps scalable to bodyweight.

Perhaps most number of floor to overhead reps, with a percentage of bodyweight in 20 minutes?

Could do the same with squat, deadlift, bench, snatch etc.

If we do it with a percentage of bw, then people can choose whether to use kettlebells or barbells.

Over the course of one weekend
- An official timed 10K run
- One max pull (trap bar, straight, sumo, whatever.)
- Max clean and press reps in 20 minutes- DB or KB - weight chosen by competitor.

Crowd will judge best overall performance.

Make that a sixty yard run and, maybe, just maybe, Beer Jew will be able to finish it. :finga:

I think someone mentioned it on here before or some version of my suggestion:

5k row
100 pushups

Start the clock with the first pull on the rower, stop it when the pushups are complete.

Did we do squat bodyweight on bar for reps (1 set) already? Or, how about squat 135 for 5 minutes (total reps)? I could actually do either of these....

The last time we had any kind of turn out for this was either the DL 315 for 30 minutes, or the Acheyball challenge - those were good!

Let's do Shapely's thing in January, then the 315 DL in February. Let's just pick something and go.

And a small idea for the DL, we could multiply # of reps by 315/BW. It'd help scale for bodyweight without letting some peeps ask to pull 185 or something.

I'm down for the row/push-up deal. Would rather wait until after the erg sprits in Feb, I'm game any time. Need to start doing more push-ups anyway.

I don't have a C2... If someone in the area has one and is doing the challenge, I suppose I could just go in cold, but yeah that would probably suck... The 100 push-ups would not be big deal.

Why not a 5k run
and 100 pushups? No specific equipment needed.

I'm down to do either

How about we just do a softball throw for distance? Underhand.
