Good week

Post by MeatPlow » Sun May 01, 2016 11:10 pm

Just wanted to share. Wednesday, I won our annual Push-Pull competition at work with extremely minimal training. I weighed in at 190lbs and benched with a close grip 325lbs and pulled 525 for an easy win. I had more in the pull if I needed but the elbow was aching pretty good from Judo a few nights prior. I had a Wilkes score of 251 and the closest to me was around 231. A guy 280lbs bench 385 and pulled 515. They had me in the 40+division but I took the overall.

Yesterday, Dr. Brian Jones of Valhalla Academy promoted me to Blue Belt. It took around 15 months of hard work and yesterday was a brutal evaluation. My coach is a Brown Belt under Dr. Jones. I got two nice parting gifts...

Appreciate it guys. The board was my wife's idea. Yes, the board has been a good idea for me for sure. My goals on it last year was to complete 1 year of Jiu-Jitsu regardless if I was miserable or loving it and doing 20 chinups again. I accomplished those goals and decided that I was enjoying myself more than I have in years and was a 3 stripe white belt so I decided my next one would be to earn my blue belt.

I'm thinking whats next is to hit a 350x1 CGBP and Deadlift 550x1 at 180lbs for next years push-pull and get a stripe on my blue belt.

very strong this evening. worked up and hit 205 for 2 sets of 3 in the Military Press and 405x4 in the squat. Wish I would have got the camera and filmed the MP's too.

Good work on the squats! I always wonder when I'm watching a squat video if someone's gonna hit depth or if it's iffy, no question on your reps.

Gimme Shelter and a great set like that? Makes me want to go down into the basement and squat right now. Nice work.
