Please excuse this pause for gratuitous reflection.

Over the last 10 years I have slowly cut s&c training to the bone, using a lot of the incidental metrics mentioned in previous posts (injury potential, bang for buck, cross over to my real world activities and goals etc).

I no longer do anything that doesn't serve a purpose, both specific to the exercise and with regard to the overall picture. That also means not training bench press, since about 2006. I will admit to using towel curls and French press in two or three of cycles in those 10 years. But even they are on the not important list now (though I reserve the right to re introduce them if I become single for any sustained period).

Old age and the 'couldn't be fucked' factor has as much to do with this as any knowledge I possess or ability to break from fashion.

In present company I'm nowhere near a masterful s&c trainer/trainee. The past has given me brutal pragmatism, resourcefulness and a fetish for elegant solutions... More than likely to the point of sabotaging 'gainz' for a slightly bigger picture.

Oh, and Fuck burpees.

This I like - a lot!

Terra both answered the original query and killed it with self reflection.

Well played.

Towel Curls...damnit..now I want to throw those back in.

Finally, you can put those KBs to good use.

They're busy holding the door open so Bram can pack his shit and GTFO.

I bench simply because I'm a terrible bencher and its easier on my shoulders than dips. I love the feel of when I get my set up right and I can feel it as a full body lift. My main technical issue is I have to use a suicide grip since I can't seem to get my wrists lined up with the thumbs wrapped.
