Bike pedals, reversible clipless recommendations?

Post by Grandpa's Spells » Tue Jun 07, 2016 5:39 pm

My bike has toe cages on them, which I don't like for safety reasons, but I like the ability to pull.

I got a recommendation on clipless pedals that can flip over for dual use with regular shoes. These come in at a pretty wide range of price points. Any recommendations? My primary interest is being able to pop out quickly & easily.

Crank brothers Double Shot will work well for what you want. Pretty large platform for when you want to cruise in regular sneakers, and the standard Crank Brothers egg beater clip system for when you want to get secure your foot.

I've always had good luck with the egg beaters system as it gives a ton of movement. Much better on my knee than Shimano's SPD system.

Al, do those crank bros pedals require different cleats than the SPDs do?

They do. They look nearly identical and mount in the same SPD holes in the shoes, but they're slightly different.

Those are exactly what my bike shop recommended.
