I hope he's adjusted his training routine to account for increased blood pressure.

I shouldn't even say this because lifting that amount of weight is impressive, and no doubt a lot of training and effort went into it. Nevertheless, I find myself disappointed when I see lifting straps... no matter how petty that makes me seem. If Konstantinovs, Magnusson, Bolton can pull 950 to 1,015-ish without them, then swooping in with straps is kind of... well... personal opinion is that I don't care for it. Deadlifts from those three are still more impressive to me. Again, JMO, not shoveling out hate here.

It's like Duffin, who uses long straps, and hangs the bar at the tips of his fingers.

KK, Bolton, and Benni can do it. Any pull with straps is second to pulls without them.

Agree about the straps.Same when I see people doing pullups/chins with straps....

He's been training with super grip guy David Horne for grip strength. So perhaps he sees it as an issue as well?

Take it for what it is worth.. in training, Dr. Terry Todd saw Paul Anderson pull an insane poundage with hooks. Of course at 5-9 that was a short pull, but nonetheless,.. grip assistance changes everything.

Duffin has videos of him "pulling" 845x10 or some shit, and 960x2.

His best meet deadlift is mid-7's, if I recall correctly.

What lych said.
How can it be considered a world record when using straps. It's heavy as fuck all but yet not as impressive because of the straps. I would wager all the top dead guys could do the same with them.

You'd not win much on that wager. The previous top guy, Bennie, wasn't able to repeat his feat and none of the others show up.

It's a pull be straps...it's also 500KG.

Hey dummies, Benni and Andy competed with straps against Eddie and didn't pull 1100 so, yeah, he pulled 1100 when nobody else could, under the exact same conditions.

What has Hall pulled without straps?

Or does he always use them?

What was that reading comprehension program they used to advertise so much back in the 90's? Anyone want to go in with me on a Christmas gift for Terry this year?

Lych you stupid wanker. It's a competition with straps. Not a competition to see which bear can impress Lych the most.

Ed Hall regularly works up to the mid 900s without straps when warming up.

Every single other strongman/deadlifter in the world had the opportunity to go up against him that day. With straps. Not only did he beat them, but he beat them by 70 odd pounds with spare room in the tank.

To say what is probably the greatest strength feat of all time "didn't impress you because he swooped in with straps" quite frankly gets on my tits m8.

perhaps the knee high socks are giving that appearance?

I will note they look better on xfit chicks. And I must embarrassingly admit that I wear them when I Oly lift or pull.

On the subject of straps.......once you get over 800 pounds on the bar I find it irrelevant. I've done it. Pulled over 9 with straps. Would NOT even try it now because of advanced years. Never go over 300kg anymore. But watching Ed pull that 500 was simply awe inspiring. :prayer:
The cool thing about training is that becoming more sexy is just a side effect........

RBSG.... Presumably you mean you've pulled 900 from blocks/the rack? Or are you saying you've pulled 900 from the floor?
