3/1/10 5:45 AM - wt 155
yoga
5 min - 5x4,4 c+p - 24kg
12 min - 158x 28kg overhead swing
walk

My weight keeps dropping. I haven't been this low in over 40 years. I do not seem to be losing strength so I will see what happens.

This is interesting. I am curious to see how your strength holds up if you continue to drop in weight.

I've been 155 +/- a few pounds for 6 or 7 years and have gotten pretty strong for my size (PRs...DL 395, Back Squat 325, Front Squat 265, OHP 155...this is not current that I am aware of) but I found that I hit a wall and couldn't get any stronger. I am thinking of putting on some weight/muscle to see if I can push my numbers up a bit. I would like to DL 400+ while still keeping up my work capacity with the bells, running, etc.

Of course you have to ask yourself how much strength is enough for you.

Still enjoying your training and especially your meditation and discussions on meditation.

Thanks Mickey.
I don't think there are any records in the future at my age but I am not really training to get stronger. The 62 lb kb feels like the 53 used to so I am happy but I would prefer to stay around 160.

Do you know anything specific that caused the dip in weight? Change in habits etc?

EDIT: sorry, my observation skills are poor... you said on the previous page you think it's an increase in the swing volume. I am an eedjut...

Odin, I think the strength gains+wt loss are connected to the twice per week higher volume snatch+swing workouts with the 20kg kb. They were typically 45 seconds work 15 second rest for 18 to 20 minutes. I think they were good for me but I didn't look forward to doing them at 5:30AM which is why I have not done them for the last 1.5 weeks.

3/4/10 5:45 AM - wt 157
yoga
5 min - 5x4,4 c+p - 20kg to 26kg pyramid
12 min - 160 x 28kg overhead swing
walk

Wt up again to my preferred minimum.

Sore neck/trap. I am trying to work through it but it is very annoying. Increasing volume even slightly at this age seems to carry more risk than you think it should.

Swings are still getting easier. Normally, I would just do more but I have achieved original goals already. Now I have to decide if I want to push it or just try to hang onto this for the next 15 years or so.

First time in over a year with no shoulder pain. I my go back slowly to 28kg presses if it feels good for a few more days.

182 is a new pr. I was going to go easy because I had very little sleep but I started going harder than usual and decided to see how many I could do. My goal for the swings was 180 overhead 28kg swings along with 240 chest I swings so now I should start the normal swings. I do not like regular swings that much so I may have to buy heavy kb which I will only be able to swing chest high.

Thanks Mickey. Congrats in your 100lb pullup as well. BW chinups hard enough for me.

I am going to stop logging this as I do almost the same thing every day/week. If I do change I will log it.

Better late than never.
I retired in November and you would think that I would have more time than ever to meditate but I seem be busier than ever and I to do it less. I planned to do a 3 month meditation retreat at a Theravada meditation center but I have been making a lot of excuses to avoid it including some part time programming work.

On the exercise front, I am doing pretty much the same thing as before.

June 4 - 10AM
Yoga
30 minute run
short rest
unload bags of mulch from truck
2x16kg lccj - 35 reps - around 4 minutes - This is all I planned to do but I am addicted to cp+swings so I did a bit more.
1 minute - 8,8 r,l 26kg clean and press
5 minutes 43 seconds - 120 overhead swings - 26 kg kb

I turned 58 last month and I am noticing that daily workouts are getting harder from a recovery pov.
I have given myself a goal of 10 minutes straight of 20kg overhead swings. I do not think my cardiologist would approve but I have been training without a goal so I will see if this makes a difference. So far the best I have done is 120 reps (about 4 minutes) but it was not a max effort.

Yoga
30 minute jog

No matter how much I eat, weight stays around 154. I should write a diet book.

I started posting again to keep track of my gradual decay as I approach 60 so the new title seems appropriate. Also I have been doing lccj making the old subject line inappropriate.
EDIT: I tried to change the topic name but I failed...

6/7/11 6AM - wt 153.5
This is the lowest I've weighed in quite some time despite eating so much that it hurts. The 62lb swings seem to burn the fat as advertised. Running more than 20 minutes also has this effect so yesterday was a mistake.

15 min - yoga
24kg
4x4,4 clean + press
200 overhead swings - 11.5 minutes
situps
20 minute walk
