Re: Machine heart and machine mind
Yesterday evening BJJ:
Basic chokes and mount defense. Rolled some and didn't land a single submission but never got submitted. Defense is coming along nicely. Lots of guard passing and heavy pressure. Still playing my game and not getting roped in anymore. Slow, small movements with a metric ton of top pressure. Make certain to use the breath/cardio pacing and static strength that GS has given me to simply shut down and wear them out. Explode and quick movements for escapng or cinching an attack only. Occasionally pull guard so I can land a sweep and rack up more points before heading north again. Simple but I know where I'm strong and if I stick with this I do better in terms of being able to attack and defend, even against the higher belts.

This felt hard at first but towards the end of the set it felt like something just broke loose and my tech and breathing seemed to fall into a nice groove where I wasn't fighting the weight as bad.
Nothing crazy but it's something.

Finally got some sleep, maybe 5 hrs. Brings the grand total to 6 since Sunday.
Stroller Run:
2 miles easy pace w/ 2 pups post vet
Just wanted to get out and move some. Still stayed below 10:00/mile pace despite old dog's slow jog.

Hated to break the 2nd set up but I couldn't make it past 4 mins. Feet and hands were aching. Breathing was slightly off.
Possibly things were off due to waking up about 1 hr prior. I hate lifting right after sleep.

Was shooting for 7 mins but overestimated my ability to sustain this rpm. Almost puked. Jerks almost didn't happen.
Still feeling mentally weak on anything past 5 mins.

Re: Machine heart and machine mind
When's the last time you took an extended break from the bells? You may be so close to the end of your rope that you're hitting a point of diminishing returns no matter how hard you work. And you may just need 12 weeks of restoratives.

I've had a week off here and there due to military stuff. I think it's simply overworked and under-rested.Holland Oates wrote:When's the last time you took an extended break from the bells? I've just added afobazole, anti-anxiety/antidepressant nootropic to the mix and it has leveled out the mood swings pretty well. A little caffeine and adrafinil for those days where I'm just dragging and lots of protein seem to help. I've almost come to the point where a low dose restorative cycle sounds pretty damn good, then again, would I not benefit more from doing that when circumstances are more ideal? Lol!
