Heh, reminds me of a comment I recently made to a trainer along the same lines. If my wife wants me to get fucked up with her and stay up all night banging her brains out, well then, I'm going to Man up.

It's all about priorities ain't it...

10 July 2009

200 snatches with 24kg, 10:50

Also worked about half my client's workout, which is getting challenging. That mofo has more dietary discipline in his little finger. I say "eat meat, eggs, and veggies, and not much else" and he actually DOES it. Frigging guy is going to make me look bad.

I console myself by saying I can out-sprint him on the stairs. But not for much longer, seriously.

New workout template, next 6 weeks:

Xingyi JM stuff
32kg snatches
Dips
Stair sprints

JM stuff every workout. Other than that, one or two of the main drills per day.

That's it. If I wanted this to be a complete program, I'd find a way to do pull ups. As it is, I'm lazy and don't want to go to the park for the monkey bars. Yeah, I know they sell doorframe pullup bars. I don't have one.

23 July 2009

Xingyi JM stuff
32kg snatches x 200

The snatches took a long ass time: 29:00. I was not pushing it.

My client has outgrown me. He has kettlebells, diet discipline, open-mindedness, and the will to succeed. Plus a little Xingyiquan knowledge. He's off to tremendous success. I told him I'd work out with him sometimes, but that he's his own trainer now.

Wish I'd strung him along with some True Knowledge talk. That would make me much more money.

Honestly, a true coach can stick with you for life. I'm not that. He knows all he needs and wants to know.

15 Aug 2009

Two workouts and a bicycle ride.

Morning training:
32kg one arm jerk Tabata protocol

Midday ride:
6 miles on my 1990s era mountain bike, just a road ride. I can see how this would whip my ass.

Nighttime:
24kg x 200 snatches.

This offsets my consumption of a cappicola, salami, roast beef, and provolone sub. Right?

7 Sept 2009

Circuit workout again, but with 24kg KB. Should be easy, right?

Xingyi JM stuff
Rounds were 1min on and 1min off.

Hand to hand swings
One armed swings
Alternate clean and press
Windmills
Cannons
Jerks (fast tempo)
Snatches
Snatches
Weighted deep jumping jacks
Cannons
Stair sprints
Stair sprints

Fin.

To be honest, this freaking kicked my ass. At one point during the snatch sets I thought I might throw up my water.
