OA C&J: 64L/64R 16:00
notes: so I took rkctl’s advice and did the OALC at 8 rpm, with hand switches on the minute. I’ve been doing a bit over 10 rpm with switches every five reps. Since I didn’t quite know what to expect, I figured I’d just cruise along until… whenever. Ten minutes was easy so I continued. Grip started going at about minute 12, then the arms about a minute after that. At times I had to force myself to slow down to an 8 rpm pace. From a cardio perspective, I got somewhat out of breath, sort of like an easy jog. I think this will make a fine "easy day" workout.

edit to add: slowing the pace allowed me to focus a bit more on the technique, at least until my girl grip started to go.

notes: didn’t feel like doing much today, feeling sorta run down. The BUP ladders took forever. For something a bit different, I decided to do a compressed ETK C&P workout. Didn’t set the bell down, non-stop, except to mark down the completion of each ladder so I wouldn't lose count.

Snatch: 11x10L/R 20:00
notes: my left pinky is fucked up, a bit swollen and painful to the touch, like I jammed or sprained it, though I don't remember doing such. It's been bothering me for awhile, but I haven't paid much attention to it, as I'm used training with minor aches and pains. Sort of like white noise in the background. Today it was very noticeable; painful to grip the handle in my left hand at first. How the fuck do you sprain a pinky finger? And not know you did it? Fuck!

BUP: 5 (1-2)
2KB Jerks: 15x10 21:00
notes: played with double jerks, 15 sets of 10 reps, and a starting point for me with these. In the future, for strictly conditioning, I think rapid-fire, semi-high reps (12-15?) with short rests (30 seconds?) will make a helluva workout. However, I see much benefit in pacing the reps and working on technique and spending time in the rack. Lots of variables to play with.

The Hurt Locker:
2 Cycles:
-2KB Swings – 10 reps
-2KB Clean & Front Squat – 10 reps
-2KB Half-Snatch – 10 reps
-2KB Clean & Jerk – 10 reps
-2KB Clean & Renegade Row + Pushup – 10 reps (5 reps L/R alternating)
time: 19:15
notes: added two reps (from 8 to 10) per movement to the one to see what it would feel like. Had to call it quits after two cycles because my grip was giving out, especially on the double snatches. Two extra reps is a big step for me on this one. The second cycle took longer because I was spending extra time resting in the rack on the squats, snatches, and C&Js.
cycle 1: 9:10
cycle 2: 19:15

Snatch: 50L/50R 5:00
Snatch: 6x10L/R 11:30
notes: made the RKC snatch test easily, switching hands every five reps. In fact, I lost count at around 30 or 35, so I went back to my last known count. I think I really made 55L/R. Anyway, a new PR for me.

Yes, it is very hard and sucks...in a good way. I usually do 2 or 3 2:00 sets 2x24kg. Would like to work up to at least 6:00 then up to 10:00 just to say I did it. That's a long way off though. I've been told 6:00 is good for training and carryover.

Nice work.

Thanks, Mick. Funny how doing 10 reps of double LCCJ in one minute (which is what I am able to do in straight sets or my circuits) is easier than doing the same reps in two minutes. My rack sucks, so I get little relief there, it seems easier just to keep moving.

I'm with you, I'd like to eventually work up to 10 minutes just to say I did it. I'll keep my eye on your training log to see how you're doing. Good luck, Micktastic!

I worked up to it during August or September of 2007, if you want to see my path to a full 10 mins. It was painful.

Thanks, Hankster! I'll dig into your training log and take a look. Even from my meager start, I know it will be painful. De Oppresso Liber!
