ADHD Log

Goal: improve CMA skills, improve health, drop fat, increase CV fitness.
I do not have or care to have a specific goal in mind.
Activities planned
Elliptical and other metrosexual CV fitness things
YRG
KBs
Tai Chi and Xing Yi(this will be the only consistent activity on a daily basis, others rotate according to whim)
Swimming
Some bodyweight stuff
rotator cuff solution(this has been consistent and has been, mainly because I need it-I probably won't even log it since it's more of a prescription than training)
Barbells
Racquetball

ok I hate logging...
Anyway
Weekend-spent a bunch of time in the water doing PADI's rescue diver course, then assisting an open water diver course. Towing "victims" etc Nothing formal.

Monday 4/13/09-1/2 mile swim, KB snatches 35lbs 3X12 r./l DARCs with 53 5X10
tuesdays-run walk ~2 1 hour+ Tai Chi Chuan-found out I've been doing it entirely wrong since day one. Now doing only first part of form, butreally trying to get the technique better
Wednesday 4/15-3/4 mile swim this am. On call at the hospital but am hoping to sneak either a quick KB workout in, or maybe some YRG. Will do TCC no matter what.

Gonna try harder to maintain log. I'm already logging in myfooddiary.com where I also log all food intake, but here I can actually get some potential feedback.

4/16/2009-had only slept a bit under 7 hours in the previous three nights... Was going to do something between coming off call and starting cases in the afternoon, but vegged a bit instead. Did 40 minutes of Tai Chi

4/17 felt better today after a full 6 hour night's sleep. went to pool intending to swim one mile. Tired out QUICKLY. finished the mile, but it took 49 minutes. To some extent my swim times are slow these days because I do a diminished ROM breast stroke secondary to my rotator cuff injury. I'm much faster with crawl and I throw a few laps of crawl and sidestroke(usefull if I ever have to pull someone in while diving) during the swims. Most of the laps are breaststroke then. Plus I like the word "breasstroke"

4/18-on call at hospital. used waterrower for 45 minutes. Then DARC with 24kg 4X10
snatches 16kg 3X10 (R, L)
pull ups 5X3 (shit these bother my shoulder!) Might not be doing these anymore
hanging from bar did knee ups-3X10
YRG 20 minutes
Tai Chi-first part of form, then held posturesX20 each*

Tai Chi and posture holding are done every day, whether I log or not, I barely consider them part of a workout and pretty much rely on them as much as sleep.

heh. As I said I hate keeping a journal.
doubt i could reproduce the last 3 weeks.
the first week was a busy work week and every day was waterrower/kettlbebells in the call room for an hour-1.5 hours
similar the next week, but substituted YRG several times. basically trying to get some form of workout in at least 5 times a week.
I'm on vacation now visiting my dad in florida. So I haven't been formally working out. Rather, I've been just active. Bike, walking, kayaking, etc.
Tai chi is daily.

going to go kayak for a few hours with my daughter today. Will probably go to my dad's FMA class with him tonight. (79 yo old dad doing escrima-cabales lineage)
Probably will just keep the same up until I get back to texas. Willl resume normal programming next monday and will try to keep up log.

Oh, and I entered the venice triathlon for sept 5 09 (400 yd swim, 5k run, 8 mi bike) fairly modest distances. I mainly want a focus to keep me moving up in fitness and down in weight.

5/11 Monday-gastroenteritis....didn'tworkout, went to see startrek-great!
5/12- AM swim 1/2 mile. Afternoon bike-unknown distance with daughter on trail-a-bike behind me.
5/13-AM ran 2 miles,afternoon YRG 40 min

sat 5/16 4.5 mile run. ouch. swam a bit in pool.

BTW currently maintaining a logged 1600-1800kcal/day diet. low glycemic index low to moderate fat.

5/17- weather turned nice so took a little walk with 5 year old daughter, 2 dogs, and 32lb smartvest. a little over a mile.

5/19 walked 2 or 3 miles with dogs, Tai Chi
5/20 day completely off, swimming with daughter and tai chi only. And some balance work.
5/21-0530 3/4 mile swim.

5/23 30 minutes water rower. Pushups on bars with feet on couch 10X5. KB swings 24KG darc 5X20. then 16 kg4X15. abs, balance work on the bosu, tai chi

5/24 3 mile run with pups. tai chi, balance stuff on bosu, abs

5/30 4.5 mile run, some KB stuff in call room. balance work on bosu, tai chi
5/31-intervals using stationary bike and kbs. Would do kb drills(snatches, swings, TGU, comlexes I felt like (one arm long cycle clean and press with a windmill in it is one I like) until my HR got to 155-165 then I'd ride bike and let it come down to 125 and repeat. I did this for around 35 minutes and then did 20 min YRG and some tai chi
6/1 Felt like ass. got up with intention of running 4.5 mile circuit. Heart rate was all over the place and didn't level out. this reflected my general feelings of crap. I have been on call 24-30 or so hours one with 18-24 hours off since 5/22 and had very little sleep over the last week and a half. ended up coming back and doing some standing qigong and tai chi.

6/2-Zumba for one hour. Yes ZUMBA. actually was pretty hard. Also there was a zumba-ing hip-rotating, swiveling young lady in front of me that perhaps took the meaning of the word SHORTs very literally. It was distracting, but likely contributed to keeping my heart rate elevated.

heh. like I said before, hate logging...
No way to reconstruct last 2.5 weeks or so, so screw it.
Just got back from maine yesterday. Mostly did tai chi, some kbs, some running, etc. Did some barbells one day when I was showing niece the basic lifts.

6/21: walk around 5 miles with two dogs and 32 lb smartvest in 96 degrees. smartvest under shirt. Ran into someone who told me it looked like I put a few lbs on. I said, "yeah 32 lbs, came on all at once" and wandered on.
my new 28kg kbs were here when I got home home from maine so I used them today:
LCCJ 5X5
double swings 5X10
DARC swings 3X20
renegade rows: 5X5
gotta wake in am and run again...triathlon not that far off.

6/23-on call-40 minutes on rower, tai chi
6/24 KBs: 2 hand swings: 32kx20 28kx20 24kx2016kX20, 12Kx20 no rest between sets. I hated this so fucking much, I did it again twice, although I couldn't finish it the third time. To cool down I used this device that bungee cords you stationary and allows you to swim uninterrupted in even a smaller pool...X 30 minutes
6/25: 3 mile run, tai ch
6/26-zumba again, 12 mile bike ride
6/27 3 mile run, 2 1/4 hours of kayaking in the lake.

7/27-Haven't been good about logging. My workouts are boring enough to do, reliving them in print is kinda dull!
Anyway today I rode 10miles around 15mph (on mountain bike over road) and immediately followed with 1.5 mile run.
I am not ready for tri yet...gotta push more.
