TRAINING TO BE A COBRA KILLING MACHINE! YO HOS!

Been a lazy bastard, getting soft. Can't blame the baby, just myself.

Martial arts are not enough, I have a Dojo now, higher standerds must be met and upheld.

Got to put my ass back in the fire and then beat it on the anvil of shugyo.


Day 1

Thursday Augest 13th Late afternoon.

Start back up easy

5 minute uphill walk on the treadmill.
10 minute stretch
Main work- Circuit
A1-Kettlebells Chain 16kg, 24kg, 32kg bells Snatch-Press.
A2- 90 degree rows with Jungle Gym
20 minutes
Cardio-

Beat the shit out of Bob, working Lead Palm, strait Palm, Side palm, 2 shovel hooks and uppercut palm combo. On and off for 10 minutes.

Yoga for 15 minutes.

Plan- Friday AM Stick drills and Yoga/
EPM - Train FMA and Jujutsu with the crew

Saturday Take off and hang with family, Bang the Ol' Lady.

Sunday DLs and Push Press, Lunges and Pull ups, 1 leg DLS,Bosu Squats and Windmills.
Follow up with beating on Bob and working with the new Grapple Dummy (Matt) then take Yoga.

3 Walking Lunges B.W. x 5 trips across the GX Room.
4- 1 Arm 90 degree rows on the Jungle Gym x 10 x 5 L&R.

12:47- 1:30pm Yoga class.

My legs were shaking durring Warrior poses, kinda funny.

Iron Dog and I are meeting @ 7:30am tomorrow for some grappling and throwing, maybe some striking as well.

Monday 7:30-9am Jujutsu Practice.

Irong Dog and I met this am for some training.

Worked on Ukemi and Judo throws.


10:45-11:50am I took a Restoritive Yoga class at the Gym.

She mixed in a little Chi gung, not a bad class.

Tuesday 7:40-9:40pm Jujutsu Class

After some Yoga and Ukemi, I had the boys work on Osoto Gari and O Uchi Gari for 30 minutes.

Then we did 3 Foundational Kote Giash waza for 30 minutes.

Next we worked a Kote Giash into face pined armbar (and knee drop on head)"Kata" from a a hold out lapel grab and punch, followed by Compound Kote Giash into a wrist, elbow, shoulder distruction off of a wrist grab into punch "Kata".

I mixed in and out and did alot of demoing to both make finer points and to get some Jujutsu practice myself.

Going to the Baltimore Aquarium tomorrow with my Father and my 2 Boys. Gonna Kid Ruck the almost 4 year old.

I went to the Inner harbour in Baltimore with my Father and 2 Son's.

I have nit been there since I was 10 years old.


We parked far and I Kid Rucked the youngest, about 40#s or so, to the Aquarium (ABout 30 minutes and let him out.

After an hour he went batshit and got away from me in the Rainforest area, so back in the Kelty he went and he stayed for another 30 minutes of walking around and I stood with him in it durring a 30 minute Dolphin show, thena anther 30 minutes back to the car.

So between that and going to the Dentist later there will be no lifting today.

Crom is teaching tonight so I am going to go all out in class.

Saturday- Jujutsu 12noon- 2 pm

3 Blackbelts showed up to train, this is what they did.
We spent 1/4 of the time working throws in a Judo context then 1/4 of the time working clinching, blending and throwing a gainst a punching opponenet. Another 1/4 was devoted to being taken down and halfing to reverse, submit or take out your opponenet The last 1/4 was spent on knife sparring.

Tuesday 7:30-9:30pm Jujutsu Class

Lord Stumph, Gimli Von Ramman, Hung Jury and a late show Iron Dog showed up for a class I led.

We started with 15 minutes of working Osoto Gari, Koshi Garuma and Uke Waza.

Next we worked Ikyu from a backhand or Diagonal backhand knife attack for 15 minutes

Then we worked some techniques inside of a forehand or diagnol forhand knife attack for 15 minutes.

The 5 of us split into 2 teams and one Lone Wolf. The teams would work Jab- Strait and Jab strait, hook sometimes uppercut or chin palm on the focus mits while the Loaner did the same on the BOB. we did 10-2 minute rounds, each man doing 2 rounds on the BOB.

Now we put on Headgear, elbow pads, MMA gloves on the Nage and Boxing Gloves of the Uke.
Uke was to attack with a forward onslaught of punches and Nage was to throw, takedown, jointlock ,counterstrike or all of the above to take his opponent down.
One of Gimli and Myself took turns being the Reff, we would not let the drill turn into a duel but kept it repetitive assult and counter assult.

We debriefed ddurring some Yoga stretches.

First Run- Clean and Push Press 2-44s x 8, Walking lunges b.w. x 1 trip (120'?), FM Cable Punches 45# x 12 reps, pull ups b.w. x 4.

2nd Run- CnPP 2-44s x 10, WL x trip, FM CPs 50# x 12, Pull ups x 5.

3rd Run DL 205# x 5, Lunges x 120', Power Wheel hand walk x 120', pull ups x 5.

4th Run DL 205# x 5, Power wheel hand walk x 120', Pull ups x 5.

5th Run DL 205# x 5, Power push ups, 2 red bands x 5 reps, Lunge x 120', Power Push ups 2 red bands x 3, Pull ups x 5.

6th Run DL205# x 4, Power Push ups x 5, Pull ups x 5.

7th Run DL 205# x 3, CnPP 2-53s x 8, Pull ups x 4.

8th & 9th Run RMP x 53# x 5 per side and 60 degree Jungle Gym Rows x 10.

Finished up with about 15-20 minutes of Yoga.

Saturday 12-2pm Jujutsu Class

I have been reading Marc Animal MacYoungs' Taking it to the Street, very good book ( I like his and Peyton Quinn's books alot, Be it things that happend in SoFlo or in Dojangs and Dojos, I have seen similar things of wich they speak. Anyways he is advoctaing a kind of a blend of Wing Chun centerline hand positioning, Fencing inspiered lungeing and SIlat like power generation mixed with a pissed of cat's desire to go through you to get away and a 2 year olds concept of "MINE!".

Somewhat similar to one of the ways you intercept an attack in AIki Jujutsu and simialar to Blauer's SPEAR stuff.

So after milling over this book (read it 3 times in a week) and playing with some of the solo drills (many similar to Kali/Silat) I decided to take it to the lab, the lab being our Dojo.

FUcking A' worked great, Uke's were coming in at half speed and being deflected left and right then being run the hell over, then we let our training blend in and it was nasty, we have a few banged up Jujutsuka (Oh well, cant hack, take up Cage fighting.) as a result and a new concept to work into our style.

See, I love the Jujutsu Lamond taught to us, I really do, I'll stack it up to any complete Jujutsu style out there but it does not own the truth,nothing does, as the truth is fluid and changes from situation to situation. I have always believed in crosstraining, all my martial mentors did as well, Jim Tirey being the most influential.
Sometimes you have to have the Balls to bring in someone else's outlook and test it and if it works then take it in. Who cares where it's from? I sure don't care if it's "Not Japanese."

This is a big reason why we are doing things the way we are at the Woodbridge Dojo, it's why we call ourselves the Combined Martial Studies Group and why we use the latin word Armatura (Multiple meaning, one being advanced fighting, the other being the name for the pole Legeonaries would practice on) and the Japanese Ryu (Branch of the current, family, school) to make up the name Armatura Ryu for the basic system, made up of our satudies in Icho Yama Ryu (Lamond might sue us.), Daito Ryu, Trooper's additions and our own $0.02.

We dont care about lines of transmission all that much, this is a western Jujutsu with strong Japanese roots but we are more than willing to let Boxing, Judo, Wrestling, Kali, SIlat and yes even a concpet picked up in a book and then pressure tested on the mats.

I'm rather interested in The Wink/Native Bermudian material. At one level, I like the old aiki stuff, and I like how NB added Guru Eddie Jafri's "deep step" into it for more pain and control. I'd love to see Dave do the Empty hand syllabus for Eddie's "4 Step" Silat. That would include NB's choking, the sapu, beset, etc. etc. No doubt the fundamental joint locks of Aiki would find it's way into Wink's material as well. From what I saw on NB's VHS' and speaking to you in Vegas,,. this material is rather cohesive and has withstood the fire of Full Contact play at the Wink arena.

Sounds like I missed a good class man, you'll have to show it to me later on. I'll have to show you what we worked on up there today. We worked some defcon 1 & 2 drills at full contact which turned out to be over 40 minutes long. I am fucking sore man. Great shit! See you on the killing floor.

I started classs with practice of Ikyu from a cross wrist grab and compound Kotegiash froma same side wrsit grab.

The we did Ikyu out of a grab or shove and Kotegiash out of a wrestling clinch.

We follwed with 2 minute rounds on the Bob and on the focus mits for 6 rounds.

We worked knee strikes on the Thai pad and worked off of aggressive 1-2 and 1-2-3 combos for 6 rounds using a throw, joint lock, takedowns or strikes.

Weds S&C

A- DLs and Power push ups
DLs 205 x 3, 235 x 3, 255 x 3, 275 x 3, 285 x 1.
PP 2 red bands x 3, 5, 5, 5, 5, 3.

B- See Saw press, Split Squats and Chin ups
SSP 2-44#s x 6, 8, 10.
SS b.w. x 8, 10, 12 per side.
CUx b.w. x 4, 6, 4.

C- Hypers x 12. Lateral Raise 2-12.5#s x 12. Roman Chairs w/ twist x 20. Cable cross pull 43# x 10 per side.

Saturday 12-2pm JUJUTSU class.

I started the group with Ikyu, doing it from the return of a missed horizontal base3ball bat swing.

After about 20-30 minutes on that, I had them use a KoteGiash from the same attack when you do not enter close enough for the Ikyu.

Next we worked a close entry against the caveman attack useing throws and head controls along with knee strikes.

Then Crom had us work Pikiti Tarsia entries into Jujutsu off of strait punches.

After class I did some Strength and conditioning.

CnJs 2-53s x 5-7 for 15 minutes.

1 leg DLs, Power push ups and Bosu squats 3 sets by feel.

1 leg Swings w/53KB, CnRMP w/ 53KB and 90 degree rows 1 set by feel.

Beat on BOB, Jab palm, smash palm, elbows, shovel hook, cupped ear blows and throat pipes and then did more 90 degree rows x 2 sets.

Jab palm,strait palm, front kick up and down the floor 1 set.

Jog around the room 5 minutes.

I plan on doing some strikes in the air and on Bob before Yoga tomorrow.
Mon- Wheel walks and Pull ups. 1 leg swings and Windmills along with supplamental core work.
Tues- Teach Kidz MA and Tuesday night Jujutsu class.
Weds- DLs and Push Press. Lunges, Power push ups and Chin Ups. Maybe do some Hypers, L Raises, Roman Chairs, Curls, Side twist and pressdowns as well..
Thursday- Go to Jujutsu class, go easy.
Friday- KB Ballistics in the AM, Jujutsu Practice in the late afternoon.
Saturday- As much rest as I can have for my #2 child's birthday.

- Stretching at the Ballet bar, slow kicks and Hirais for 5 minutes.
-Up and down the GX room with the Jo, doing Katana drills 10 minutes.
-Up and down the room doing double stick drills 10 minutes.
-Up and down the room dowing kicks, knees and leg block front kick combos 10 minutes.
- Palms, forearms and elbows on Bob for 10 minutes.

12:45-1:30pm Yoga class.

Last night Jujutsu

Crom warmed the boys up with Ukemi, Ukemi and Ukemi.

I had them work Ikyu from a wrsit grab first and then off of a strait punch to the face.

Then we worked Osoto Gari.

Next we worked Face smash on the pads and on BOB.

After we worked it into Osoto Gari, where the face smash helps you slam your opponent's head into the ground.

We finished with more face smash on the pads to counteract the pulled strikes durring the partner training burning into the muscle memory.

Weds

Did a good deal of Yoga with a client around 2PM

4:45-6PM Workout, thanks to Bronkaid aka Legal Tweek.

A- Clean and Push press and Beam pull Ups
CnPPs 2-53s x 6, 8, 2-62s x 5, 6, 5 > 2-53s x 6.
