Rise of the Washed-Up Meathead

Post by The Venerable Bogatir X » Fri Jan 01, 2010 7:43 pm

Update....I've been going to the gym here and there, mostly doing bands, swimming and hitting the sauna for the deep sweat effect. My knee is still absolutely jacked the fucked up but for a few reasons, western-style medical care for it is still not on my radar. I will be going back to acupuncture soon.

I can't have any real bogies right now for training, so 531 and other plans like that are out (I cannot lock out my knee, so I don't have a lot of stability for any type of ME work for who knows how long), however, I can still train and work-up a sweat.

1 January; TD 1

20 min full body JS--this includes some pull-ups and Asminov SQ using the average band to get some ROM for the knee

MP 95, 2*5
Hang Power Clean 95, 2*5
Standing Ab Curls 70*10

MP and HPC will be a part of every workout and I will do the slow, "40 Days" type of ramp-up.

16Kg Birdball SN 18L/18R. The fancypants gym now has the full compliment of kookballs up to pairs of 40's and yours truly has permission to enter the office and retrieve them for my own evil training purposes at any time. So, I will start doing some more KB work as I see fit.

45 min: easy swim and sauna

2 January; TD 2

5 min of JS
MP 115, 2*5
HPC 115, 2*3
KBSN 24kg, 7*5L/5R
Then, I dicked around w. some doubles stuff with the 2, 24kg mediocreballs for a few mintues
Standing Ab Curl 80*10

That was it.

Got to the gym at 0500...

500m CII warm-up

4 Supersets

SN w. one pood birdball 21L/21R

Standing Ab Curls 100*20 reps or so

Barkley was on Leno about 5-6 weeks ago. Leno commented how Charles is at least 50# overweight. Charles said he works out, he just does the 'executive workout', which consists of sitting in a hot tub and taking some steam to relax. The interview was much funnier than my explanation.

Give Box Pistols a go at home or gym. I want to see your knee better, dude.
Try 50/20 for calorie burning.. I see you are amping up the volume with the achyballs. Stay healthy for your kids. Hope all is going well!

I've been doing the Asimov Squats cherrypicked from the YouTube that AbG*d posted not too long ago; only I use a heavy band to hold onto vs. blast straps. Do some other knee stuff with bands as well. NFW to the box pistols right now. Then again, maybe with the same band set-up for assist/stability that I've been using for the Asimov's (or howeverthefuck you spell the name).

I like 50/20 and I've done that routine (through completion of the goal) more than a few times, but it's not on the radar right now--just showing-up at least 3x weekdays in the early morning + weekends, is.
