The 2011 Definitive Blocky Boy's Guide to Self Loathing

Post by snatch grip » Sun Jan 02, 2011 1:39 am

Log cleanse. Woke up this morning weighing by far the most i've ever weighed in my life. Devoting this year to dropping the fat. So, beginning 2011 weighing a heartily unhealthy 293#. The ultimate goal is to drop at least 75#, but for the year i'll just make it an even 1# per week (52#.) I know the IGX rule is to not berate folks on their logs, but feel free to do so on this log. This bitch is all about accountability. I'll provide a weekly weight update for all to point and laugh at. The plan is to get alot more conditioning into the mix as I have been strictly weight training up until now, and being more consistent with mobility work. And of course, diet diet diet...which is the real problem anyway. I'm going to get in on the 2011 Fatty Wager in order to get more accountability and to whip the collective asses of the other IGX fatties. thoroughly disgusting shirtless pics to come soon.

To borrow a line from Shaf from that thread...no more "culture of fail."

Saturday.1.1.11

Walked 3 miles
Spent 30-40 minutes on doing various mobility wods
Coached my sisters both to 1 rep squat PRs

Good luck mcbk!!
With the diet, just eliminate one bad thing at a time. Don't try to change everything in January. Or as I prefer to approach it, add one good dietary habit at a time until it becomes habit, then add another one.

you are going to look back in three months and laugh at how hard it was to start and how easy to continue once you did.

Good Luck.

Good luck Mick!

The advice I will give you is a pretty decent trick that works pretty well, especially for abdominal fat and that is to greatly increase your fiber intake or take a bulk fiber supplement every day. Fiber traps bile fats (they usually get resorbed) and so you will pass an appreciable amount of fat into the toilet every day.

I have done this with whole grain oatmeal, broccoli slaw, and/or Citrucel. Some of my guys have also used whole Acai berry powder (mixed with water or juice).

Keep a calendar, spreadsheet, or wall chart,.. whatever is easy.
Measure weight, waist size, and some PR for REPS vs a single.
Charts, accountability, etc... are great.
Don't focus on a pound amount but rather on health, athletic ability, movement.

Many thanks to all for the input. I definitely have to take a different approach and forget about lifting numbers for the time being.

Measurements, since I don't have access to a Tanita scale:
Waist: 54
Chest: 51
Arms: 18.5 each
Neck: 18

all my fat is held in the torso so i didn't see much point in taking lower body measurements, but if others think they'd be helpful, i'll add them as well.

FAIR WARNING: Titty pics below...the squeamish will want to scroll QUICKLY.

Sunday.1.2.11

3 Mile Walk
3 sets of Max Holds on CoC gripper
15 minutes of various mobility

If anybody reading has any suggestions on a higher volume weight training method that'd be better suited to my goals, i'd be happy to hear it.

As far as weight training goes. Do what you like but only do it twice a week. Do some kind of low intensity conditioning every day. Once your body gets used to the low intensity conditioning add a little more to your conditioning but don't get in a rush.

Diet is the key my friend.

I'm still trying to get that damned file uploaded. Once I get it done I'll send you a pm.

Many thanks, sir. I definitely know it's going to be all about the diet for me. Appreciate you uploading the file as well, but no worries or hurries as i'm in no rush at all.

When I locked down my diet all I did was YRG 4 or 5 times a week. I then added back a few weight sessions but my focus was good quality cardio. And find something you love to supplement your conditioning like hiking, weight vest walks, bike riding, etc.

Theres nothing wrong or wimpy about that day Mick.
You did something. You got your ass moving. You'll do fine.

p.s. I like EZ's diet and YRG approach myself.

Thanks, TOM. Never had much problem keeping active, just never stayed focused on diet, which i'm certainly trying to do now. I do plan on giving the YRG a go quite soon.

Tuesday.1.4.11

warmed up with 200 jump rope singles
Dan John Complex E (Power Clean, Press, Back Squat, Good Morning, BTN Press - done as BTN Push Press, Front Squat)
8x45#, 7x65, 6x85, 5x105, 4x125, 3x145, 2x165, 1x185

holy hell...that beat the everliving shit out of me. not sure what kind of rest you're supposed to do between sets if any, but i fully admit to taking some pretty decent breathers between. i'd always used the DJCs as warmups here and there, but never really as a workout. will definitely be doing it more often.

2.5 mile walk

later I plan to spend 10-15 mins on mobility stuff

May I be the first to say NICE TITS!
And congrats on your decision?

Are you a sugar and carb freak or is it just too much of everything? I am a total sugar addict and struggled to get off it, but did it and never felt better. So whatever it is....you can do eeet!

Thanks Coug. Mine are 100% real as well. As far as my "problems" with food - i'm against discrimination. I eat equal amounts across the rainbow of bad for me shit. I am taking the non-analytical approach to dieting. I have a pretty good idea what's good for me and what's not. I have a pretty good idea what's too much intake and what's not. So it's just applying the garbage in, garbage out method. If that doesn't work then maybe i'll have to log, but if that doesn't work then i'm also a big huge gaping vagina who can't keep control over my own self so there we are.

As for today's workout, i don't feel like doing a goddamn thing. So i'm going to watch these yoga vids (thanks IGx) and maybe give them a whirl, and do some CoC max holds.

Thursday.1.6.11

AM: Tested out the 5 Tibetan Rites for the first time...just did 5 reps. my limited back mobility will be a struggle here. liked the 5th rite quite a bit.

PM:
w/u of jumprope, assisted pullups, back extensions
Bench: 135x5, 155x5, 185x5, 205x3, 225x2, 250x1 (1RM PR)...sad I know, but i've worked very little on bench ever
upper body circuit, 3x10 each at moderate weight, something i could do all reps at full ROM:
rows, lat pulldown, pec flys, tri extensions, curls
5x5x135 clean & press

2 miles treadmill on hills setting

I used to do the tibetian rites "religiously" ha ha and loved it. It's been awhile.

Just saying good luck with the food.I know paleo is not welcome here. As someone who is a sugar addict, simply having a word for - get rid of all that processed garbage and sugar and eat clean....has worked. But whatever you do...one day at a time and the coug who shares having real tits with you is rootin you on.

Impressive. You have a lot of mass underneath that layer chocolate chip cookie dough, so keep it by hitting the weights easy while you eat less an dmove. You are in best position you can be in since you are undertrained.

A hint with the caveat of not at all being a diet guy. Eat whatever you want except no dessert and no booze or eating when it is dark. Keep moving and hitting gym and the results will motivate and correct your food issues.
