Training's becoming smarter now, focusing gym time entirely on getting the 500 deadlift, and gearing up to do some sort of novice strongman competition once I'm strong enough. Taking some tips from chaosandpain, Blaidd's log, and my own intuition. I'll only be logging the main moves for the day.

I'm also going to be lifting with a mate most the time now, so I'll be logging some of his PR's, since I'm sort of coaching him. He's basically interested in getting stronger and building muscle.

Today:

Continental clean and push press: 80 kg x 15-20. Most the push presses were doubles.

Mate managed to get a clean up to 60 kg, and a clean and push press up to 55 kg.

Finally got some weights for the farmers walk bars, 165 kg worth, but I think I'm going to need to make a longer and slightly thinner pair of bars, since some of the weight won't fit on them, and my knees hit the weights if I take big strides. For the time being they're adequate.

Farmers Walks: 50 kg per hand: About 150 steps in total, just to get a feel for them.

Considering going to judo later. Got a stinking cold after standing next to a door for five hours last night, doing security for a dinner.

Worth it though, guest list included Simon Cowell, Boris Johnson, Theo Perfitis, Karen Braddy, Phillip Green, and most importantly, Alesha Dixon and Holly Valance.

Boris is funny as hell, and gives a great speech.

Funny story about it- Boris rode to the dinner on his own bike, and parked it in the hotel lobby. The hotel manager comes up to us and say's ''You've got to get that bike out my lobby mate.'' I reply to him, ''that bike belongs to the mayor of london. Perhaps we should leave it where it is.'' The manager replies- ''It could belong to Barack fucking Obama, but this is a five star hotel and no ones leaving their bike in my lobby.'' Boris wasn't too happy to come back and find his bike missing.

EDIT: No judo tonight. No need to pass a cold onto the rest of the class.

My bet is you make yourself sick the other weeks and it hits in deload week.

Are you saying that's a good or bad thing?

Still a little ill.

Bench: 90 kg: 5 triples

Push press: 70 kg: 5 triples

Deadlift: Just up to a 150 kg single

Rows: 110 kg: 3x5

God I hate the first workout back after a deload. RPE of 9-10 on everything.

Back to goodness:

Bench: 80kg: 30 reps in 6 sets. No set over 8 RPE.

Deadlift: 140 kg: 10 singles on the minute. 6 RPE.

Curls: EZ bar + 15 kg per side: 30 reps in 5 sets. RPE: 9-10

Rows: (beltless): 100 kg: 5,5,7. RPE: 7

Everything fast and snappy. No grinders. Deadlifts were real nice and smooth.

Judo tomorrow hopefully.

Got to judo half an hour early so decided to do some quick lifting.

Rows: 110 kg: 5,5,5

Deadlift: 150 kg: 1,1

Front squats: 80 kg: 3,3

Then 3 hours of judo. Spent it drilling the beginners throws, being thrown myself, and practicing the transition from a throw to groundwork.

Considering hitting the farmers walk bars for an hour with a friend.

Same day:

Farmers Walks: 50 kg per hand: 4 x 50 m walks

I think I'm going to do a little bit of volume on thursday, then hit a heavy day on sunday.

Side note: One of the guys in my judo class last night has just started training for his first MMA fight. He played pro-american football for 6 years. Guy's about 6'5, and around 275-300 lbs. The instructor asked him how much he could bench. He said 195 kg for four reps. Jesus christ.
