2013.06.14PM; jiu-jitsu...taught the Friday self defense class, defenses and counters to grabs and holds from the front. As always, the self defense crew is older guys who have no delusions of world champion grandeur, but they are hard working and attentive. I finished the night doing some sparring with each student, from blue through senior brown belts; all rounds start from the feet but because these are older business men I avoided doing hard throws and just dissolved their attacks.

2013.06.15AM; shooting and riding as part of the 20th Annual Hawaii State Shooting Sports fair. I am getting semi-fair with my Henry rifle, but some of the new guns I was trying like the H&K USC confound me.

2013.06.16AM; today marked the end of my "Hugh Cassidy" training cycle. See here for the original thread:

I already hit my goals in the deadlift last week with a 300 lbs. for 3 reps; actually my goal had originally been 315 lbs. x 1 but I ran out of weight for my 300 lbs. barbell set and need to get more, but I think it's clear that if I can do 300 lbs. for 3 then 315 lbs. for 1 rep is legit. So Sunday was all about da bench, where the goal had been 225 lbs. x 1. The numbers are all very modest, but this was after not lifting a barbell at almost a year.

1. Bench Press 5 x 3, 3 x 5 (135 x 3, 155 x 3, 190 x 2, 210 x 2, 225 x 1, 160 x 5, 170 x 5, 185 x 5)
2. Curls 3 x 10 @ 80

I will be traveling for the next month, so I will just do some easy body weight exercises, jump rope, and yoga. When I come back I will consider another power cycle, I was enjoying this a lot.

Thank Mick! Not bad for just 6 or 7 sessions, I think.

2013.06.17PM; jiu-jitsu...last jiu-jitsu for a month :( I did have a nice sparring session with the big Mexican fighter I have been working with; he's incredibly solid and explosive, so I have to work hard to control because he will blast me off him if he gets a chance. On the down side, a couple of times when I did have him down he exploded out of it and I lost position so that is something I will work on when I come back. On the up side, I sent his ass flying with sumi-gaeshi and I could tell he wasn't happy about that but tough luck, pancho!

2013.06.18PM; I believe this will be the last weighted workout for a while. This workout took waaay to long, 1:36:54, but I just put True Grit on the Roku and cleaned house between sets.

1. Bench Press 4 x 8, 3 x 10 (135-155-170-190, 155-170-185)
2. Deadlift 4 x 8, 3 x 10 (135-205-225-250, 135-155-175)
3. Curls 4 x 8 @ 85
