Going to see this movie tonight. Review to come in.

It's not playing anywhere near me.

The Coen Brothers are really hit or miss for me. All their films have great segments, but don't always add up.

The Big Lebowski makes up for any sub-par shit they do, ever.

Playing up the street from me. Might check it out.

Okay so No Country for Old Men was a decent movie. The ending was a little out there but over all it was worth the $7 admission price. The suppressed shotgun was kick ass.
The basic plot of the movie if you have not seen the previews is a guy finds a bag of money and a truck load of dope. He keeps the money and is on the run from a guy looking to get the money back. Lots of killing in the movie. Tommy Lee Jones does not have a huge roll in the picture but plays enough of a part and does a great job at selling the laid back sheriff of BFE, Texas. It is kind of a slow movie except for the killing parts but hey, it is the Coen brothers. Think Fargo with lots of killing.

Nothing wrong with Fargo. Just lots of killing in this movie.

It's a stick-with-you movie. It's a meditation on life being solitary, nasty, brutish and short. Death is serendipitous, commonplace and violent. Fear and pain appear, but its all calm, no screams. The whole movie is the visual equivalent of sustained cool jazz. The moral landscape runs from pure evil to faceless evil to likable bad to accidentally corrupted to cynical good. It has the feel of Greek tragedy with an inevitability about it, though it does not wrap up neatly as does Greek tragedy.

Hopefully it's not as boring and pretentious as your review.

What stands out is that you only spent $7 for the movie. If you want to see a movie here it will cost you around $9-$10. Even a matinee time movie price is something like $7-$8.

I still use my student ID. Just pisses me off that the tickets were $5 just a year ago.

Captured the mood of the book well. You know from the start all will end badly and there will be no redemption. Can't imagine seeing it without reading the book first.

How did the movie's plot deviate from the book's plot?

From what I heard, it's insanely loyal to McCarthy's vision.

I'm sure that "The Road" will be the feel-good movie of the year. Whenever they make it.

I can't see them making "The Road".

So far "Open Water" heads the list of depressing movies I've seen, as far as movies you generally see in a theater. It depressed my wife all night, which was good in one way, since she was in the mood for distraction sex.

Realistically, I agree, just based on what I've heard and read while standing in the B&N (while casting wary glances over my shoulder for marauding giraffes.)

It'd probably cost a mint to film that "dead world" and word of mouth wouldn't exactly be great.
