G.I. Joe- The Rise of COBRA!

If you were a fan of the old Marvel comic ( I hated the cartoon) as a kid, go see this.
If you were'nt a fan, you still might like it.
A kick ass, suspend reality popcorn flick that reimagines the charachters and the team but in a way that works.
Snake-Eyes gets his due, like the comics (and unlike that faggot assed cartoon) he is the badestmutherfucker around. Ray "Darth Maul" Park did a great job, he moves alot like Snake did in the comics and he is in most of the movie.
They keep with the fact that even though he is a Ninja, he uses firearms in conjunction with his sword ( a Browning BDM ). I would have liked if he still carries a sub gun or a carbine though. (The og SE carried an Uzi, a 1911a1 and sometimes a HK MP-5K.)
Scarlett and The Baroness are hot peices of leather clad ass.
Fun flick, my Son loved it and is now running around with a sword and a pistol, Snake-Eyes style.

Gonna have to go see this.

It was good mindless entertainment for two hours. A bit like spy Kids for adults. But I liked the fact that people died.
And I didn't even read the comic as a kid.

Is GI Joe still the "Real American Hero" in this movie, or are they some faggoty NATO-style force?

Who would want to watch a movie about a military force that runs away at the first sign of trouble?

According to the man our training forum is named after, the next day after the battle, where at the loss of 19 Americans (Who were not allowed the armour and air assets they asked for by Bill Clinton's Sec Def) a few thousand sub humans were killed. They were geared up to go back out and dish out some punishment (Like when Bush I had Zinni and the Marines runing the show).
It was Clinton who pulled the leash back, the Rangers, Delta and "Other Assets" did not run.

Relax Darf, of course we ran from Somalia. Anybody who doesn't is stupid.

I had the pleasure of serving with a guy that ran the Mog Mile. Bad ass that was very unassuming. Rarely talked bout what he did. Got a bronze star for what he did. Small guy that no one wanted to mess with.

Shugart and Gordon set the standard, Dutch peacekeepers not so much.

Have not seen yet but plan to this weekend. He really carries a Browning BDM? I bought one of those turds when they came out, and it's still in the safe. Neat idea, excellent form factor compared to a lot of other 9mm's, crappy trigger, so so accuracy.

Never got to shoot one, they came out when I got out of the gun bizz, I was hopeing they would be like the Hi-Power just in DA/SA and carrying a couple more rounds. (and in 40S&W)

Saw it over the weekend. Liked it a lot.
I got rid of a HI-Power to get the BDM, as I wanted something with a decocking lever and was SA/DA for possible carry. In size and feel, it is very close to the hi-power. Just the trigger is not too smooth, and for whatever reason, I shot the hi-power more accurately.

I'd like to preface my review with this image:

This is what I'm sitting in front of right now. Needless to say I'm a pretty massive G.I. Joe fan.
That said, if I hadn't gone into this flick with the absolute lowest of expectations I would have hated it.
All I wanted was some cool Snake Eyes vs. Stormshadow scenes, and some crazy ass CGI destruction porn. It worked for me on both levels so jolly good.
There's an amazing animated series that just ran on Adult Swim called G.I. Joe: Resolute. Should be out on DVD very soon and is an absolute MUST watch/have for Joe heads.
Also check out what IDW comics is doing with various Joe titles. Surprisingly good stuff.

Enjoyable popcorn flick.
I could swear that Team America parodied nearly this entire movie already though...
