I've tried three of these and people loved the stuff I grilled and smoked.
On that basis I just ordered $100 worth of rubs. A good one to start with is "Raging River." It's supposed to be for salmon, and it's great that way, but you can use it for most anything.
Here's some info on how they do in competition. You can go to the home page and order page from here:

Seahill, factor the ~6 month shelf life of ground spice blends. Particularly the premium stuff, you don't want to order more than you'll use in the the relatively short term. It won't go bad, but it'll go bland or different spices in the mixture will go bland at an uneven rate and affect flavor.

Spells,
Danm. That's something I should have considered. I got their sample pack, with everything they make.
The grill and the BGE will be getting a workout...

I've had Dizzypig spices before, they are very good.
For BBQ sauces, check out the Pepper palace (
www.pepperpalace.com) - I especially like the sweet bourbon glaze on ribs and shrimp.

Throw the stuff you don't want to use right away in the freezer. If the blends are unusual you can check with the manufacturer, they'll definitely know the shelf life of all their stuff.

Good thought. Thanks.
