The shoes are Gore-Tex, which keep out dust and if you land in mud or puddles, your feet stay clean. The tread and rubber is remarkably grippy which is great for slick surfaces.

Downside is the weight. They're heavy and it can take a bit to get use to. But outside of that, seems like the shoes are solid and can last well beyond the average 500 miles that most trail shoes can be run in. Plus, you can have a designated local shoe cobbler re-tread the shoes for you so you can stretch your dollar with these things.

Problem: if you have feet shaped like a swim fin, these shoes are not for you. Narrow toe box.

I wore these during my 25 mile muddy pain-fest this past weekend. Feet stayed clean and dry outside of the typical wetness from sweating, but my DryMax socks handled that well.

And you're right seeahill, if your feet are wider than a 2E, these shoes will not work for you. Actually, I really haven't found too many trail shoes that come in really WIDE sizes.
