Anything from the Neapolonic era.

I remember reading about the old guard when I was a kid. I particularly remember the stories about the retired soldiers home in Paris, where some of the retired old guardsmen where described as striped like zebras from the saber scars they carried.


I also remember their nick name, "les Grognards"

Badasses to the extreme.

I'll have to look up the name of the Calvary Old Guardsman officer that was surrounded and asked to surrender. His reply was "do these boys look like they surrender?" and then proceeded to cut his way out.

The Old Guard carried the day at Austerlitz. Hard core.

I remember standing right where they got hosed at Waterloo. Eerie.

I was really interested in them when I was a boy too.Wouldn`t mind reading a good book or 2 about them.
