Don't you get your own gear from your own government?

Yes,but it`s not always the best quality.I`ve been forced to change my boots 4 times in 2 years because of the heels falling apart.
Lowest bidder maybe?

More people than not buy their own gear. John Willis (a former SEAL) used to own a place in Oceanside CA called Special Operations Equipment and would build whatever you designed. It was easy to go through a paycheck there.

Got my Kifaru Xray Gen 2 on thursday.Well packed,no daage fro the shipping.
The back is really well padded and one thing I really liked wast the extra padding in the lumbar/lower back region.
Solidly built and both material and the workmanship seems to be of the highest order (should be when you consider the price).
Tried it yesterday with 50.6# and it sits really comfortably on the back.I bought it with the thinnest cheapest) waist/hip belt but even that does it`s job.
At first I thought that the shoulder straps could have been a little thickr, but the more I walked the better they felt.
One of the reasons that my first buy from Kifaru was this sack was to see if everything I`ve heard about quality was true before
ordering a big one and I must say,yes i will definitively order an EMR from them when the extra dollars are available.
Only thing I got a bit upset about isn`t Kifarus foult, but the swedish governement:I had to pay 185 dollars import tax (fuckers).

Just tell her that you got a deal on it and that it was on sale if she asks. Her innate money spending habits will be appeased.

Did a 5 mile ruck today (hilly trail) with 56#.Going by how this felt (mind you this was the first time with any kind of weight in it)the Pointman is the best ruck I`ve ever used.
I`ve tried:large Alice,Berghau and Karrimors, different rucks from the swedish army and no one compares to the comfort I found using the Pointman.

I might start rucking stuff on the weekends to round out my training and toughen up a bit. This review was appreciated.
