Captain Phillips

Better than average movie. Of course the payoff is the ending that we already know.

All in all, 134 minutes of watchable DVD. :finga:

Just saw it this weekend, agreed. I'm surprised Hanks was not nominated for a best acting oscar.

I think that he was nominated and so was the head Somali pirate. Maybe a few categories
of the film were nominated also, but nobody and/or nothing from that flick won.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe, but did not win. He was not nominated for an oscar.

Watched it on a flight yesterday. That was surprisingly solid, particularly given that (most of) the ending was known going in. Tom Hanks is one of those actors I never give that much credit to, but he was great.

Makes the Seals look extra bad ass.

Two thumbs up.

:finga:

edit: the actor that played the head pirate was an immigrant limo driver in Minneapolis. Hadn't done a bit of acting until he went to the casting call for this, and now he's up for an Academy award. And I think it's deserved. Amazing.
