Re: The couch thread
In the meantime, I'm still retired. They're thinking about me, but I'm not thinking about them. Feels good. May I, as THE OP, state that this is the worst thing that has ever happened to CF. Wait, which: that I retired, or that I started in the first place? That you retired! The only CF related sit...

Pushups and pullups on yes, the Perfect Pushup and Perfect Pullup rotating thingies which seem to really help my shoulders stay cool, and pistols. Lots of GTG in between en...

Drinks were $22 each, and are not Paleo. Went Paleo again 4 weeks ago and I'm down 6lbs, about 7 to go to get to 182 which is my early 90s jujitsu weight. The Vegas picture is indeed very flat. Had my second son at 50. He's 16 months old. Got anew job that involves almost weekly national travel. Aft...

New one. Close as you're likely to get to Hendrix Live. Listen to Red House first.

Great book. Writer embedded with the Cambridge crew as they train 7 months for the 159th yearly 4+ mile race with Oxford. 2 olympians, a world champion and various national team members, mostly grad students at Cambridge, make up the team. Very much like Brad Lewis' Assault on Lake Casitas, a must r...

Of course one of the sheep couldn't help but chime in to claim that the money went to buy water and lunch for the volunteers. laughable. I feel this way about ...

JFC These are not pullups, and I don't mean because she's kipping. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EotmQi--GjM I mean because there's no pull , there's a kip that gives her an inch or two of vertical displacement. And there's no up. The top of her head barely gets to the bar. You could do this withou...

The Bricklayer - Noah Boyd
Really good. Character is sort of a Gabriel Alon/Jack Reacher mix. Ex FBI agent fired because he won't rat someone out working as a bricklayer and sculptor. Breaks up a bank robbery and leaves, but FBI recognizes him on the tape and asks him to come back to solve a bad case. Much mayhem and sexual t...

Re: The Assassin trilogy by Robert Ferrigno
What if the US split? Half Christian, half Muslim. Ferrigno's books are set in this unfamiliar geopolitical configuration. The protagonist is Rakkim Epps, a Fedayeen shadow warrior of the islamic half who's not a good muslim. Tight writing, memorable characters, good action, overall very enjoyable....

Just in case any @F lurkers want to know Rip's position on how he perceives strength to fit into their "idea" of fitness [brackets mine]: First thing we need to get out of the way: strength is the basis of athletic ability. If you are a good athlete, you are stronger than a less-good athl...

Abby, you seem to be in an alternative universe. Not to try to sound hip but I knew the players and even though I tried to get it both songs sucked donkey dick IMHO. I'm even willing to give them a big break on the live mixing. Still sucked. But I don't have a TRX which prolly gives you better list...

Can't believe I slept on this. We finally watched last Saturday's SNL and they were on. I knew Josh Homme (Queens of the Stonage et al) and Grohl was drumming (Foo Fighters) but I didn't know who that cool older bass player was - fucking John Paul Jones! Sound is halfway between Zepplin and Hendrix ...

First single from the new Hendrix album that comes out next month is up on itunes today. Amazing. Unlike most musicians at the time, Hendrix owned his studio, Electric Ladyland, and lived right down the street in the Village. Since he didn't pay for studio time he spent hours, sometimes days in ther...
