I'm a big fan of Ronda. Been following her since judo days. i think she's going to dominate and then the sport won't know what to do next with her. She raises the bar so high that there is no one else to compete with her.

I'm a little ambivalent about it too. But Ronda really struggled publicly with the inability to train full time for the Olympics and still earn a living. Going into MMA was one of the few ways she could make a living with the judo background and it's working out for her. So I'm glad to see her succeed.

It's good for Ronda, and I like to see dedicated athletes find success, but I was one of the few guys that didn't seem to cream himself in high school when chicks would kick the shit out of each other. I get less excited when I see them bloody each other in a cage.

I was at the Carano vs Cyborg fight and it was a fight I wish I hadn't paid to go see.

I'm very happy for Ronda. She did a clinic for us a few years ago and we got to hang out a bit. We traveled to a tournament together and warmed up with each other (which was rougher than any of my matches). It looked to be a lonely existence, going from town to town to do clinics and fighting every weekend just to pay for expenses and a few shitty meals. She's paid as much or more dues than any athlete before her, and I hope she has a long and successful career.

Well, I'm glad someone commented on the mouth before me...from the before and after interviews, she came off as a complete bitch. Hey, if she doesn't care that she snapped someone's arm...so much for martial arts developing or revealing character. Of course, after 25 years in the game, I already knew this. I just don't like being reminded of it.

I knew she was a big deal before she ever hooked up with Gokor, but that didn't stop all of my friends who are affiliated with him from lighting up Facebook with "GO HAYASTAN" and all that shit. She will fit right in with some of those thugs at the main academy.

Gokor is legit and will deepen her submission game...breaking ankles and knees like Palhares may be the next phase in her evolution. I predict she will get her ass handed to her on the striking, and will leave for better instruction. By Gokor's own admission, he can't teach stand-up for shit, and he doesn't have a history of finding and keeping a legit stand-up coach to help his guys make it to the next level for MMA.

Gene LeBell...imo, that's a bunch of hype. He is the epitome of a great competitor who couldn't produce as a coach. Yes, there is knowledge there, and he is tough as nails. Having said that, Gene can't teach someone to be Gene...you have to be born Gene and then add the judo and boxing and karate or whatever. LULZ at wrestling bears in a death match (I have a friend who will swear on a stack of bibles that SENSEI GENE broke the bears neck...and it was a Kodiak), and supposedly choking out Steven Seagal.
