THE CRIMINAL case against an ex-Philadelphia cop who allegedly ordered a woman to strip naked and watch him masturbate during a Kensington drug raid was thrown out Tuesday thanks to a screw-up at the District Attorney’s Office.

A MEMBER OF the Colwyn Police Department is under investigation for repeatedly using a Taser on a juvenile while the boy was in a holding cell last week, according to borough officials and sources.

Dr. Anthony Abrams, who holds a Ph.D. and is director of Mental Health Services at Bucks County Correctional Facility, was conducting federally-funded research on substance abuse when he was allegedly assaulted by Police Officer Eric Burke at 5th and York Streets on March 8, 2010.

Abrams’ injuries were so severe that he suffered a crushed eye socket and had to receive a surgically inserted titanium implant to repair his face. He sued the city — and the city settled the case on March 21st in the amount of $285,000. Next month, the Police Advisory Commission will determine appropriate actions to be taken against Burke, who is still on duty pending the PAC hearing.

Former Luzerne County Judge Mark Ciavarella Jr. was convicted of taking $1 million in bribes from developers of juvenile detention centers. The judge then presided over cases that would send juveniles to those same centers. The case came to be known as "kids-for-cash."

Former Luzerne County Judge Mark Ciavarella Jr. was convicted of taking $1 million in bribes from developers of juvenile detention centers. The judge then presided over cases that would send juveniles to those same centers. The case came to be known as "kids-for-cash."

According to law enforcement inside and outside the department who are familiar with the situation, the firings and resignation came on the heels of an internal affairs investigation that started when Beighley inappropriately used his stun gun.

The sources said other officers had also used their stun guns inappropriately and some allegedly used them on multiple people at a party, and a video was posted online.

A former Kennett Square police officer pleaded guilty Monday to the rape and sexual assault of four young girls, and was sentenced to 12½ to 25 years in prison.

55-year-old Jose Manuel Santiago pleaded guilty to three counts of rape, three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and one count of aggravated indecent assault.

Santiago would allegedly sacrifice animals, set his hands on fire and claimed to be possessed by a spirit named Elegua, who needed sex. Fearing the wrath of Elegua the girls were forced to submit to Santiago's advances.

Its sponsor, state Rep. Stephen Barrar, R-Delaware County, says that Berry got a "slap on the wrist" in 2009 for running a real-estate business out of his chambers, adding that it's "outrageous" that the state Supreme Court allows him to stay on the bench.
