Whenever I'm on the internet, I get an adobe flash type pop up (pop under?) in the lower lefthand corner of my screen. I ran my Microsoft Security essentials and it didn't find anything. i went into 'add/remove programs' and don't notice anything unusual installed.

WTF do I do and how do I do it?

browser = IE

Download google chrome, install it and use it instead. IE is kind of fucky that way. Chrome is better.

Stop using the Internet for one month and see if that helps.

Check out Malwarebytes at CNET. Download the free version and run a scan.

Though, I suspect Adobe is trying to run a flash upgrade.

Oh, IE is fucked. Though Chrome steals your soul.

Malwarebytes is pretty good. I always run it as a backup to whatever realtime malware scanner my clients run.

Combofix is the "nuke from orbit" malware option and will nail almost anything out there. Be sure to back up your stuff, and only download it from bleepingcomputer.com.

You can also get free "live" malware scanners - they boot from a CD\DVD and run against your inert hard drive, which gives any malware very little chance to fight back or subvert the process. There are several flavors of Linux live CDs, Avira Rescue Disc, Kaspersky rescure disc, etc which you can download and burn to CD for free, or get from a place like OSDisc.com for less than $3.00 a disk ($5-12 if you want to boot from a USB stick).

If you want to stick with MS stuff, there's the "Microsoft Safety Scanner" (download should be refreshed after 10 days) and "Windows Defender Offline", which you also burn to a CD or USB key and boot from - it runs instead of your operating system and attacks any virus on your hard drive while the hard drive (and OS) lies inert and can't fight back just like the Live Cds.

Good luck.

Dr Agkistrodon how do you post links to this board with google chrome? The problem I have is that this board will
not except htm files, which seems to be the chrome default.

Chrome got too bloated.

Iron is slightly better.

I've had to go,with low resource browsers. Avant and slimboat work ok

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the fucking question- I never have problems posting links to web pages here, with Chrome. I just copy pasta the URL between the tags that the URL button makes, and I'm good.

Uninstall Flash and see what you get.

Can you take a screen print and post it here? That will help narrow things down.

The blueberry thread - fine.

The make-your-own contacts - plausible, considering who we are dealing with.

The 'situation' with the vice-grip - I believe.

However, this is an obvious troll - nobody really uses ie.

Gig is up, protobrother.

Your hard drive is probably dirty and needs cleaning. Try taking a bath with it and report back.
