IGx Docs and ones that get stitches ALOT

So I was being stupid with a chainsaw and got 16 stitches in the armpit (right at the top). 2 on the inside and 14 outside. Stitches are out, but...when I straighten my and bring it to my ear with the palm out it hurts (piercing pain) at the bicep belly about 2-3 inches up from the wound. So I know you would be able to make a better diagnosis if you were able see it. Could it be from the internal stitches being in there and not dissolved yet? How long for stitches to dissolve. I looked it up and it said about 1-2 weeks. Its been just over two weeks when the stitches went in. The outer stitches came out at 10 days. Scar tissue already? Make doing Military presses a pain.

Hang on, you can't just post something like that and not elaborate.
My totally non-scientific but I've had something similar explanation is that the internal stitches are tugging/stuck on something and it should go away. Either that or it's Lupus.

The time to dissolve depends on the type of suture used. It will take *months* for the scar tissue to have the same strength under pressure as regular tissue, regardless of the stitch used. Did they have to sew muscle, or just "casing"? (connective tissue).
And yes, story please.

I had 24 stitches on the inside park of my right biceps. 12 of those stitches were inside. It was half a year ago. I feel no repercussions from the emergency surgery. My arm is fine. You don't want to arm wrestle me.
But, god damn it, I told the story about how I broke the toilet with my face and cut my arm all to shit.
Chain saw story, please.

It definitely takes a while to get things back without pain and feeling sort of restricted.
Or it could be lupus, like jezzy said.
Or you may die if you don't tell your fucking story.

All right fine. Sadly no beer was involved. I am up at a friends cabin helping him cut a tree down. My hands are on the trunk above the bar of the chainsaw, pushing on the trunk so that it does not pinch the bar. So we go to town like dutiful beavers sawing away. The tree DID pinch the bar and it kicked out of the trunk and got me in the armpit. My favorite Jack Skellington shirt is all cut to shit. It looks like someone grabbed at the top of my pit and pulled the skin down all raggedy and such. No muscles were cut. It was more like a deep exfoliation. Surprisingly there is not as much blood as I expected. I have had bloodier noses. It could have been MUCH worse.
So my kid sees the pretty big laceration and freaks the fuck out. He heads out into the woods at flank speed and finds a stump to sit on. The wife is on the edge of panicking and my youngest boy is like "what". I stuff a dish towel in my pit (direct pressure) flashing back to the Corps boot camp first aid class. So neighbor and I trundle off to the Hayward (yes Wisconsin) hospital for stitches. I think I may have gone into shock a little, because I felt really weird and kind of lightheaded. So the doc takes a look at it and asks the "how did you do it" and I tell her that I was stupid. I don't think she was real surprised because it IS Hayward WI. Everyone is surprised that my blood pressure and pulse is relatively normal considering what happened. So the doc throws in stitches after some Lidocane. That shit worked great. Shes like "Can you feel this?" I am like "no what are you doing?" "Poking you with a needle" 2 internal 14 outside. We head to the bar to look at the world record Musky and have a beer while we wait for my prescription to be filled. It was Barking Squirrel. The musky was huge.
The chainsaw was a Homelite. I figured that it should hurt more than it did. Then again I am not sure what I expected.
I got to spend a week eeking people out with "look at this." and showing them my armpit. Oh yeah, the doc hooked a pit hair with a stitch and THAT woke my ass up. Come to think of it I don't think the Doc was surprised at all. They have the Lumberjack National Championship in Hayward WI every year. RBG makes it up there.
So there you go ....Juggling chainsaws would have been better.

Hey let's talk about the proper use of a chainsaw for a moment...so what should FraggleRock have done? I've not fucked with a chainsaw much and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a little scared of them. Every time I've seen/known someone to use one something goes haywire. What's the proper way to just simply cut down a tree?

I hoped this story was going to involve midgets and juggling flaming chainsaws. Ho hum. Glad you're okay.

The tree will fall where the tree wants to fall.
A close call encouraged me to reconsider doing that shit myself. And gyppo tree cutters are abundant in the Pacific Northwest, and incredibly cheap to hire.

Not true Johno. A tree can be felled exactly where you want it to fall. I learned that in the Boy Scouts. Then I lumberjacked pulp wood one summer with my father and his buds. They knew everything.

Ancient & Wise One, I stand corrected. I'll just say that you can't control where the tree falls by pushing on the trunk. Unless it's a sapling.

Get well. Respect the saw. And now you have an awesome scar. Who needs a tattoo?
I love Hayward. I have attended the LWC the past 42 years. And have competed at it the past 30 of those years.

How about next time make a relief cut rather than hold your arms over a moving blade you can't control.

Sorry. You never have to push on the trunk no matter how big the diameter. You have to notch it on the side where you want it to fall. Then make the final cut on the other side. If you have it notched correctly, it will fall with precision on the target line you've decided upon.

Could have been worse. Glad you're OK.
I have a lot of down timber at my cabin. Well, it's A FIRE HAZARD. And it blocks my waterline along the creek. I figured five afternoons of about 3-4 hours of chain saw work. Alone. 30 miles from the nearest town. My friends have suggested this is a stupid idea. The more I thought about it, the more I realized they were correct.
So a woman I know has a 27 year old son. I know him and most of his buddies. All Montana born and bred, so they know chain saws. I'm hiring 4 guys and we'll get it done in an afternoon.
But Holeyfrag's story was just what I needed to make that decision.
