I remember one night this dude called in and said he was the "Six Fingered Messiah" and just went off.... For some reason that scared the shit out of me. Art is the best at getting the nutters to ramble in an almost linear fashion.
And then another time in Tucson I was listening when the first dude called in about the Shadow People who you can only see out of the corner of your eye. You could tell Art was like "Oh shit I can ride this gimmick for the next two years!" He was so fucking pumped.

Art was really riding the perfect storm for a while back right before Y2K and then on into 9/11..he still had his fastball, people were varying degrees of freaked out and he was selling those wind up radios. Very good radio if you happened to be up from 1-5 AM here in the East Coast.

He got real pissy there for a few years and got fixated on the weather and then married a Pinay and flew the coop to The Philippines.
If I am any thermometer for freaked out by what is going on in the world, Art is gonna do great.
I know he was always cracking on that Noori doof for being too square so I am hoping for The Big Crazy from Art.
There were only two other radio guys who could compete with Art in my mind and the best thing was they all did different shit: Classic Art, Joe Frank at any point in his career and early Phil Hendrie.

Yeah this could be a very good time to be Art again. I'd say at least 33% of Americans think Obama may be a shapeshifting lizard and that the world could end soon AND the X-Files are coming back. Just like the late 90s which come to think of it, was pretty fucking awesome.

Koko, you listen to Joe Frank? Did a show out of KCRW in LA? The Seinfeld guy stole from him like a maniac. And that was only the smallest part of what he did.
Or like pre-2004 Hendrie?

He's either going to succeed huge or suck in a bad way and disappear inside of six months. My bet is on the former. People are crazier today than every before. His gig is tailor-made for the Facebook generation.

Wow... I've been listening to Coast to Coast off and on since 1997. I think I stumbled across it when I was commuting late nights. Don't mind George Noori, but I really liked the Art Bell days.
I guess I'll be getting a little less sleep than I wanted tonight.

So, I stayed up past midnight to hear Coast to Coast and it was George Noori again... Was this a pod cast or is my local station playing older shows???

Right now it is primarily an internet radio broadcast but there are some traditional radio affiliates with many more on the way I'd imagine...
Art is trying to own the whole thing so he is starting small.
I think there are like 4 options: TuneIn, Pop-Up, AAC and an MP3 option. I thought the AAC was the clearest...
Oh yeah, Noori has Coast to Coast and XM kept him off the air until that contract was up...

I caught some of it. Like Fast Eddie Felson at the end of the Color of Money, Art's back. Took me a few minutes to get used to his voice sounding a little more marble-mouthed.

Try the AAC broadcast or another one. I used the AAC and we thought he sounded younger than we could remember.

Art is the guy you want when you're driving all night across the American west and there's no FM radio or indeed any radio, but Art. You got to hear things you'd never hear in your real life.
