A Christmas story
A woman I know is going through a pretty nasty divorce. She holds down two jobs and has three boys under 7. The boys love the movie Minions and they all wanted very specific Minion toys for Christmas. She buys them online due to her busy life.
They were supposed to be delivered two days before Christmas. They weren't. On the afternoon of Christmas Eve, she calls Target. Where are my packages? Turns out they were delivered and returned for a refund two days ago.
This was in Connecticut, where, apparently, a gang was following delivery trucks and snatching packages. She's still got an hour or two until the store closes. But she needs to get the a baby sitter. In desperation, she calls the father, her husband, the boys' father. Instead of crowing over her misfortune ("see boys, that's what you get when you stay at mom's house") he rushes over and assumes the duty. She gets to the store on time. Buys the Minions.
She gets home, thanks the husband --- their first civil words to one another in months --- and he leaves. Later, she finds he left her cash for the toys. Christmas morning three boys wake up to find Santa brought them exactly what they wanted.
