To start at the end - If you only ever did the workouts on this DVD forever you'd be just fine. Not that that's what Steve advises, or does, but I think you could pretty much just work this ad infinitum and never need more.

The DVD is nicely produced, nothing fancy set wise, or tricky, effects wise, but nice and clear, sounds good, great menu. Steve's personality comes through a little, and of course he's his own best endorsement, effectiveness wise.

The 3 workouts range from very easy, with tons of assists, to very hard. I actually think the advanced, like Twights somewhat misunderstood 300 "workout", is better looked at as more of a test then a workout, as Twight intended. Good mixture of basics and cool variations.

I'll try them in the coming weeks.

Absolutely worth the money, as expected.

That's what I like most about this DVD, is it basically provides a template for bodyweight training that you can alter and moderate infinitely. If you ever wondered which exercises, or exercise order, or volume is right for perpetual bodyweight training this addresses it in a model that is so elegant it hints at Maxwell's genius for physical culture.

I had some extra beans and have been flailing around in my own training for at least two months now so I picked this up. Great movements and good quality video.

I have two things to add to previous reviews:

1. What are those shoes that he is wearing? The noise from them throughout the video is kind of annoying. Relevance: none, unless you are one of those people that has to have everything just right.

2. Even the basic level could be tough for a beginner. I love Steve's material. As the foxy one said most people could do this routine forever and be fine. However, I think some more commentary on how to scale it down even further (150 reps anyone?) and frequency (1,2,3,4, or 5x per week) would be really good. Given Steve's knowledge some tips on warming up or cooling down would make this damn near the complete package for just about anyone.

After going through the full blown beginner's workout several times and not recovering for several days because of my terrible conditioning I scaled it back to 100. Hope to do this several times and week and start ramping it up.

I got a pirated copy of this and like it so much that I Paypaled Steve the money. For a fighter this is pure genius. Everything makes sense. BTW, I want to be in the same shape as Steve when I'm 54.

From Steve's Blog:

Q: The Spartan 300 Workout is great! How many times a week should I do the DVD?

A: Thanks! Do it no more than 3 times a week on non-consecutive days.
It's a brutal workout. If you want to mix in weights, do weights on one of the non-consecutive days.
