True Blood

Was hoping to like it. Easy to do as I will watch just about anything with vampires. The first episode was fucking horrible. Too much to complain about. This "ground-breaking" look at the "vampire genre" gets tied up with just about every cliche within the "vampire genre" and without.
Fucking disappointing.
Tons of sex, if you can sit through the rest of the show.

Bummer, but I saw the badness coming from the descriptions online.
Anyway, if you haven't seen it, check out "Ultraviolet," the British miniseries, not the film with Milla Jova-jovo- whateverthefuck. It's about a secret sub-department of MI5 that's dealing with a vampire threat. Worth a watch.

True Blood is based on Charlaine Harris' "Southern Vampire" books. Not a bad series of books.
I've heard from more than a few folks that the series looks good.

2nd episode almost as bad as the first. Cliffhanger with the blonde in trouble again . . .
Silly shit. BTW, a transformer outside the house was arcing every 20 minutes. Maybe I shoulda went outside instead . . .

Hated both episodes. Will be lucky if I catch the third, just too lame.

The books are not a bad read. Nothing groundbreaking.

Next week looks good. I'll hang in for one more episode.
BTW, Entourage fucking sucks this season. I don't get the principle behind having a comedy and deciding to make it not funny.

Dexter is the train wreck I can't pull my eyes away from.
True Blood gets two more shots.
I miss
The Wire and
BSG.

Rent "Near Dark." Lance Henricksen, Bill Paxton, and that chick that played Vasquez in "Aliens," as Civil-War holdover vampires, touring the Southwest in stolen RVs.
Totally badass; there's a scene in a roadhouse that's just....
fuck.

No not kidding. HBO has been going down the toilet for the last few years imo.
Almost anything they put out there now is complete bullshit. Maybe that got some big media cats for NBC or something?

You're crazy. The Wire was ridiculously good. So was Rome. Look at Oz. That was some serious dogshit right there.

So you named two good shows, big fuckin deal since you're the professional TV watcher here care to name a few more that HBO has come out with in the last couple of years? Don't mention Deadwood since the fine geniuses at HBO canceled that. HBO sucks the donkey cock

I don't really except for maybe Sunday night for an hour, maybe two at the most.
The rest of the time I got other shit to do, plus too much TV equals mindlessness so it's better just to stay away from the evil box IMNSHO.

Oz is gay porn. HBO fucked up when they cancelled Deadwood. Thankfully they let the Wire go for five seasons. Have you seen the BS they are premiering this season?
Never got to see In Treatment, but heard it is very good.
The writing on Real Time this year seems a lot better; I can almost get over the fact Bill Maher is the host.
Curb is in "pre-production".
But overall HBO has made some blunders in their programming. Probably worth the five dollars a month or whatever on DirectTV.
Right now, it is Colbert, Real Time, LK (when he has a nut-job panel on), and maybe Dexter for pure schlock.
