Paranormal Activity. Decent, some spoliage in my review

If you've seen "The Blair Witch Project," this is very similar.
A likable young couple, one with a history of being haunted, decide to document any bizarre behavior using a digital camera.
As the movie progresses, predictably so does the severity of the encounters. For the most part the character's behavior is sensible for the first half or so. Then the really crazy shit starts to happen, which is caught on tape. At one of these very over the top points, you would think that they would put a shit-load of effort into fixing their situation, especially with the evidence on tape that they have. But no, and I was disappointed that this typical staple of the horror genre was kept in.
A couple scenes) are pretty damn intense although this movie actually shows some fucked up stuff happening, albeit not that much.
The difference between the movies really boils down to the fact that the characters do have the power to leave the house, contact authorities, etc. and they choose not to. In the Blair Witch they have no clue where the hell they are in the woods, with zero help, and that is in itself creepy.
I give it a 7.5 out of 10

Just finished it. Nice piece of work. Making the characters believable (they did) was key. Oh, and so was a deliciously juggy female character. Mmmm.
"Stupid Boyfriend is Stupid."

Him being an "I've got this under control" idiot was consistent enough IMO to make it okay that he quashed leaving when shit got serious. GF would pitch a girl fit each time, but finally cave in and agree to stay. And as they point out, leaving wouldn't have helped. Establishing that was important.
All in all, I'd say it was a primer in making shit scary while showing you very, very little. Nice to see that done in this CGI age. I'd give it at least an 8/10.

wasn't really scary until the last 20 or so minutes, then it got pretty good.
the boyfriend in the film is hilarious.
worth renting
He is an asshat. His male pride of "I HAVE THIS SHIT UNDER CONTROL" is what made it believable for them not to leave IMO.

In this case, because it's the girl who's haunted, not the house. Not a spoiler, since you get that in the first 5 minutes. It's been following her around since she was 8.
The question is, "why don't white girl get rid of the boyfriend?"

I enjoyed the film and I don't believe in the paranormal. I can imagine someone who does wouldn't sleep for the next three months.
SPOILER PART
The bit where she was standing there for hours was cool. Freaky.

First off...I thought the movie was scary as shit. But I do have some unresolved beef with some of the choices the characters made.
Spoiler space
Aight - Once it was evident that the bitch does creepy shit in her sleep, possibly related to the haunting, my wife and I both agreed that we would've immediately tied ourselves together with a length of twine...that way if she did some stupid shit it would wake me up. This would've prevented a lot of mess in that film. Second, once the dude decided it was time to go, and the chick (motivated by possession) convinced him that staying was a good idea, the dude agreeing to stay was completely out of character. I also have a big problem with their refusal to turn on lights. And if it were me, when that psychic was trying to leave, I would've choked his ass out...he'd be tied to my computer chair helping me brainstorm solutions when he woke up.
I don't believe in the paranormal either, but it still fucked my sleep up last night. Which brings me to the question of - how in the absolute goddamn hell were these people able to sleep after some of that shit went down? I call bullshit. We had a lurker one night and I didn't sleep for a fucking month...and I kept my gun actually out near my hand at all times during the night. I can only imagine my inability to sleep if I had confirmed there was a fucking demon hanging around, and I was regularly pissing it off with my day-to-day activities.

SPOILER
I also assumed that it was she who burned her first house down. Although the demon does set the Ouija board on fire. Hmm.
