Can't believe I slept on this. We finally watched last Saturday's SNL and they were on. I knew Josh Homme (Queens of the Stonage et al) and Grohl was drumming (Foo Fighters) but I didn't know who that cool older bass player was - fucking John Paul Jones!
Sound is halfway between Zepplin and Hendrix - wild guitar, driving beat, good rifs.
Real rock with balls from a new band, sort of.

Abby, you seem to be in an alternative universe. Not to try to sound hip but I knew the players and even though I tried to get it both songs sucked donkey dick IMHO. I'm even willing to give them a big break on the live mixing. Still sucked. But I don't have a TRX which prolly gives you better listening capabilites.

The mix was terrible. I'm basing my assessment on the CD, not the show. The rawness of the guitar and the drumming were enough to get me to download the disc.
EODM are good but a little too kitchy, I like this more. I like this more then Queens of the Stonage.

Okay that makes sense. All of them individually are great. Occasionally the SNL crew has not gotten the setup right. I'll give them a listen on iTunes.

I bought some Kyuss once...once.
I personally believe that Josh Homme and all of his bands suck. Each and every one of them. All the time. Forever.

I saw them open for Danzig once. Glenn is known for using lousy opening acts and that night was no exception.

TCV is a good album, alot better than most of the shit these days.
As for Kyuss, their biggest problem was their low end sound was still extrreme for the time, so when a soundman would set up likle he woul;d for a normal rock or metal band, with shit loads of Lows and scooped mids, their music went from soundiong like the end of life and sounded like MUDDLE MUDDLE WHOOMP WHOOMP WHOOMP MUDDLE.
Danzig has a history of fucking over opening acts, at least Cotten Mouth Kings got their's on him.

TCV was on Austin City Limits this weekend, pretty good show.
