First movie in a long while I'm really looking forward to seeing. Here's one of the first reviews I've seen. I don't think it gives anything away.

Hey Bram, let's you and me get together and go see this. I'll swing by and pick you up, say around 6:30 and we'll go have a quick bite to eat and maybe a few drinks. How 'bout dressing sexy, say a short fitted skirt and some strappy heels to show off those legs? Then afterwards we'll go somewhere and dance a little bit then have some coffee and dessert where we'll talk more about the movie. Later we'll swing by my place for a little nighcap and well, we'll see what happens. Sound good?

I agree that this is the first big sci-fi movie in a while that has me hyped. I took my son to see Avengers *sigh* and I got more of a thrill out of three minutes of Prometheus trailer than 2.5 hours of superhero muddle.

Uhh Dlyna, need I remind you that IGx was founded on the principle that name calling and passing judgement on others sexual orientation is not very nice and if you continue to do this Mario will put you in a time out.
Bram you are a tough negotiator but okay. I've got a black catsuit I've been dying to wear anyway.

I don't want this movie to be good. I NEED this movie to be good. I need it in the worst possible way.

You are fucking on the money there Ed. I didn't think about this until you said it but it's been so long since I was blown away by a movie. Television has done so much better of a job of engaging me in this regard.

I'm a deep down scifi nerd. It's where I started as a kid and we haven't had a great scifi movie for adults in years maybe decades. This movie has to be fucking good.

I saw the original Alien when I was 10, and even while I oohed and ahhed at the cool SciFi trappings it scared the living shit out of me. The movies after Aliens (including the Predator crossovers) were more miss than hit.
I really, really want Prometheus to take me back to the awe, wonder, and terror I felt watching Alien. Like Shaf, though, I've got my doubts. you can never really go home.

Who here was creeped out when the saw Event Horizon in the theaters?
Had me think "Maybe we should not fuck with warping space after all?"
Scared the fuck out of my then girlfriend but that's always good, led to great clingly "Oh my god I love you." sex afterwards. That shit's great when they are only 19.

Did not know there was already a remake?

Event Horizon was all right.
Pandorum was OK.
I think that video game, Dead Space provided better space horror thrills than 99% of the genre movies in the last 5 years.

Fairly back to the horror roots of Alien. Med unit scene caused visible terror in female audience members. Good movie. In spite of taking place before Alien, viewing order should be Alien, Aliens, Prometheus. Forget the others.

Agreed 100%. Those games are as creepy as the
Resident Evil games were.

Spoiler
---------------------
Visually, best movie ever
The characters make terrible decisions (why are you touching that? for example)
The story is very confusing, why why why why
And super gross
Nice view of the future.
7/10 brought down by dumb decisions and a murky plot. Obviously for me those are big criteria

Doing stupid things is traditional in horror movies. I've given up complaining about that. I also suspect a lot of material on fleshing out motivations and explanations was left on the cutting room floor. To be sure, there's some flawed storywriting, but the end result was worth the ticket price.
The 3D was really well done. I read some complaints like "I didn't feel like I was watching a 3D movie."
Which I think is a stupid complaint. The 3D never pulled me out of the experience by reminding me egregiously of it's presence. I mean, in real life everything is 3D, all the time, and you just get used to it. The better 3D is done, the less time you spend "noticing" it, IMO.
