But so what! The first book is better than the show. Tyrion's first battle he is wounded while actually fighting with Bronn, Shagga and the crew after killing a Knight with a battle axe. The Dwarf is 10x's cooler in the books.

How Eddard get injured is a more telling of the kind of man he is. He does not fight Jaime but Jamie orders his gurads to kill Stark's so instead of doing what about 80% of the Lords in the book would do and stand by and watch it go down, Ned joins the fight for his men and gets his leg crushed under his horse.

I am on the eplouge of Dance with Dragons now. These books are now on the same level with me as Cornwell's Sharpe's and King's Dark Tower.
