Went to see it instead of Lincoln, because Lincoln theatre was full and we'd already bought our popcorn and stuff. I offered to my wife to sit through the latest installment of Twilight Saga which would have resulted in my eyes and ears bleeding, but she decided to bank the martyr points by going to see what I actually wanted to see. Those of you married know exactly what I mean by martyr points.
Anyway, awesome movie. Visually amazing, six loosely interwoven stories across time. Same actors play different roles in different times, which was probably a ton of fun for them to do. All kinds of little couplings between the stories, along with some underlying themes that are timeless between the early 1800s and the far future. If I had to summarize the story, I'd quote the last stanza of the famous Tennyson poem...
O love, they die in yon rich sky,
They faint on hill or field or river :
Our echoes roll from soul to soul,
And grow for ever and for ever.
Blow, bugle, blow, set the wild echoes flying,
And answer, echoes, answer, dying, dying, dying.
I'll definitely see it again, if only to track the echoes between stories.

I have been harboring the notion that Nafod is a bit of a dick but after reading this I'm thinking we need to go camping after we watch that movie together.

This was a really good picture! It's not perfect by any means, but it held my interest for almost three hours and that's worth a rental right there.
A big budget production that really swung for the fences. Like Heaven's Gate or Apocalypse Now they should get points for going all out even if they didn't quite pull it off.
It's the kind of show that you definitely need see more than once. (Subtitles help with the 'futuretalk'!)
Glad to see that all of that Matrix money was spent on more than a sex change operation.
