I quit drinking coffee a couple of years ago, reducing my caffeine intake to a couple of cups of green tea per day. This was good for my stomach, but ultimately didn't work well for me. I found myself drinking coffee several times per week, and I was tired of drinking bad coffee. I wanted something cheap and easy that would produce a small amount of good coffee.

I settled on this, and it's exactly what I was looking for. You can think of it as a mix between a press pot and a drip filter. It gives you the total immersion of a press pot without the sediment. It's easier to clean than a press pot, but otherwise the time required is similar.

The instructions that come with the dripper produce a 10 oz mug of coffee. If you fill it with as much hot water as it can hold, you'll get just under 16 oz.

Same situation but I went with the aeropress

I've had one for about 6 months and I love it. I use a digital scale to measure out my beans. I've found about 18g is optimal for my tastes. My buddy that owns the local shop prefers 22g.

The only variable I've really played around with is the grind. The directions I read said that it needed to be fine, but I was surprised by how much more fine they need to be for this thing than for a French press.

Yeah. I hit mine just a bit more coarse than an espresso grind.

I'm going to be getting a Bonavita drip I think...or that Japanese one that's cheaper
