Blue Jasmine

Very good. Cate Blanchett is outstanding along with Alec Baldwin and whoever plays her sister. Nice performance by Dice Clay, also. You've got to give it to Woody. Making movies for 40+ years, still turning out about 1 a year and still making them smart, vital, emotional and thoughtful. He really is one of a kind. The finest American director ever. Maybe the finest overall.

Is Woody still married to his daughter?

it is a really good film. Blanchett was awesome. a real throwback to the great actresses of the 30s-40s-50s.

Let me just list a few of his films:
Annie Hall
Manhatten
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Husbands and Wives
Sleeper
Take the Money and Run
Zelig
Bullets Over Broadway
Blue Jasmine
Match Point

In this short list you have great films that range from slapstick comedy to deep drama that have been made over a career spanning about 45 years. It all depends on your qualifications and ranking system but he is absolutely near the top of any serious discussion of the greatest directors of all time. Why wouldn't he be?

Because he's a slimy pathetic piece of shit who fucked his daughter. Same reason Polanski isn't in the discussion, or why nobody here considers Lloyd Irvin a great coach.

Allen marrying his adult stepdaughter-but-not-really is nothing at all like Polanski drugging and sodomizing a 13-year old (and continuing to have a taste for underage pussy), nor is it similar to Irvin taking part in a gang rape but failing to get it up.

Allen's marriage is creepy, yes, but we're not even in the same ballpark.

No, it's just named after a pathological lier who used to piss on his wife, but hey, he was funny and she was into that shit. (Imagine what else she'd let you do?!)

I thought we were talking about film direction, not Time's Man Of The Year.

Given Time's track record he probably regularly makes their short list.
