Captain Phillips

Better than average movie. Of course the payoff is the ending that we already know.
All in all, 134 minutes of watchable DVD.

Just saw it this weekend, agreed. I'm surprised Hanks was not nominated for a best acting oscar.

I think that he was nominated and so was the head Somali pirate. Maybe a few categories
of the film were nominated also, but nobody and/or nothing from that flick won.

WAIT, they already had the Oscars?!! Damn, I missed it AGAIN.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe, but did not win. He was not nominated for an oscar.

Watched it on a flight yesterday. That was surprisingly solid, particularly given that (most of) the ending was known going in. Tom Hanks is one of those actors I never give that much credit to, but he was great.
Makes the Seals look extra bad ass.
Two thumbs up.
edit: the actor that played the head pirate was an immigrant limo driver in Minneapolis. Hadn't done a bit of acting until he went to the casting call for this, and now he's up for an Academy award. And I think it's deserved. Amazing.
