Insurance has become an absolute plague on humanity.

I don't know where I'm going with this exactly, but I think any time you have a system powerful enough to deal with a big problem (insurance companies are one example) then that system can become so powerful that it becomes the tail wagging the dog. Thus the only way the rest of us don't get crushed is if the big powers oppose each other.
