Great Podcast Episodes

Even the best podcasts have shitty episodes. Have any favorite, cream-of-the-cop, memorable ones?

Here’s one with comic-book creator Todd McFarlane. He distills comic books down to three main skills: artistic ability, storytelling ability, and ability to meet deadlines. Also goes into being rejected 350 times (and learning from what they criticized him about).

Johann Hari on the modern struggle with focus:

https://youtu.be/HloHNf8KZG4

An example I liked:

A mask might help, but it isn’t a solution to air pollution. Likewise, things like meditation or a better diet help focus, but aren’t solutions for the pollution of attention-media like Instagram, TikTok, porn, YouTube, shock news, etc.

Interview is about personal and systemic steps.

Any Ward Carroll ep with Justin Bronk. If you're into Ukraine or military stuff in general, they're fascinating. with specific facts and analysis. He also sticks to what he knows, and Ward doesn't interrupt his explanations. They're on YT.

Rick Beato's talk with Pat Metheny. I'm not into PM at all, in fact I'm not really into music theory or history, but this one was gold. Pat shares insights about the creative process and some of the influences that have shaped him. On YT.

Hidden Brain, Episodes 1 and 2 on Reframing Your Reality.

The guest, psychologist Alia Crum, focuses on the power of mindsets. Specifically, in the first episode, on the power of reframing stress as a performance booster. After listening to this podcast, I tried this out in big, scary waves and found it to work exceptionally well.

One of the more recent Dave Tate/Elitefts podcasts with Jim Wendler is really great - he talks a lot about his work w. high school football players.

John McAvoy was an armed robber sentenced to life imprisonment. He found indoor rowing while incarcerated, went on to break British and World records, and is now a Nike-sponsored triathlete and advocate for prison reform.
