531 Forever - upcoming book by Jim Wendler
It's gonna be out in 2-3 weeks I think. I'm probably gonna buy it. Will try to post a review.
Never bought his other books, but followed 531 from T-nation articles. Always had good results.
These days, not doing any sport, so going to the gym and running are the only way I exercise. (Started rowing, but stopped because of time restrictions).
Anybody else thinks of buying it?

I'll probably pick it up, since I try to support people who I think are putting out solid content. I've had good results from 5/3/1 in the past. Had my best strength gains with it using a few of BD's hacks (some of which were incorporated into the Beyond 5/3/1 book).
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

I've got in on order. Yeah, fuck his shipping, he's taking extra off the top for packaging and the time to package it.

Serious question, but how is another 5/3/1 book necessary?

Speaking for me, I don't have his other books. Mainly interested in buying his latest book for planning weight training for my kids when they grow up and do sports.baffled wrote:Serious question, but how is another 5/3/1 book necessary?
For myself, I used some of his T-Nation articles. Now I'm on Tactical Barbell I (weight training programs) and II (conditioning programs) for my training. I don't feel like those are good books to teach weight training for a kid/teenager.

Really think Mark Sisson's approach to "cardio" is about the best out there. Walk, hike, ride a bike easy as much as you want/can as part of your daily life. Don't even think of this as "cardio", think of it as "doing shit". Once a week or so do a sprint workout with whatever you want. 30 seconds all-out, 1:30 rest for a few rounds and call it good.Bobby wrote:Not hard (can just read your posts if I want that),but I was thinking about getting a training effect that will help with work, rest and play!TerryB wrote:A conditioning "program"?? Got my copy yesterday. Book itself was beat to shit, but I'm 90% certain that is my Mailman's fault.
Book begins with some updated info about warmups, structuring cycles, there is a conditioning and recovery section as well. As always, Wendler's info is very good. The majority of the book is just a program bible, with a VERY detailed write up of how to do each program and who it is targeted for (beginners, etc.). I'm glad I bought it. I like programming porn anyway, but really, you could coast of this forever if you wanted to.
There are a few programs that will probably be of interest based on the various discussions we normally have here.
2x2x2
Limited Time
The Wendler Classic
Con Clavi Con Dio (also a 2x2x2)

My copy was beat to fuck too. I didn't pay double the cost of actual shipping to get a fucked up book, but there you have it. I have no idea why the shipper went with a plastic bag instead of some kind of padded envelope. Shipping was $16 for a book and a shirt...USPS actual cost is $7.20 for a padded envelope that would fit the book and the shirt. Between that and the way the formatting will put tables on 2 different pages, it kind of indicates a lack of attention to detail that Jimbo ISN'T known for.
Info is good. A lot of programs and ways to put them together. Nothing surprising, but he does clarify stuff like when to use joker sets, etc. Aside from the physical shape of the book, I think it's very useful, especially if you train with a similar philosophy

See, that's disappointing. Especially since the shipping cost so much. I was blaming it on my mailman because he's a retard who always brings things busted up or delivers mail to the wrong house. Part of neighborhood bonding around my way is exchanging mail.My copy was beat to fuck too, packed by a retard and shipped by an idiot. I didn't pay double the cost of actual shipping to get a fucked up book, but there you have it.

Good point.
Re: 531 Forever - upcoming book by Jim Wendler
Have you tried a program since you received the book? I'm still wondering if I should buy it, and I'm finding almost no reviews online. Thanks !tonkadtx wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2017 11:48 pm Got my copy yesterday. Book itself was beat to shit, but I'm 90% certain that is my Mailman's fault.

No. I'm doing an experiment. I was actually going to write it up when I was done, maybe I'll write it up early.

It's a good program from a guy who was a competitive athlete, started doing this kind of 'training' and then never completed again.TerryB wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2017 3:30 pmSounds exhausting.Alfred_E._Neuman wrote: Really think Mark Sisson's approach to "cardio" is about the best out there. What were BD's hacks for 5/3/1? I've used it successfully for more than two years now and would love to have more ways to get at it.Alfred_E._Neuman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2017 6:28 pm I'll probably pick it up, since I try to support people who I think are putting out solid content.
