A free black in the USA

Let' me make a prediction: After winning his appeal, Chauvin will be released on June 18, 2024. Biden will call the ensuing riots protests. There will be prosecutions of people who say the riots are riots. Interesting but not surprising: Wikipedia says Chauvin murdered Floyd. Not, Floyd died and Cha...

mental big rocks

Write down any situation that comes to mind, where things were very stressful, but you rose to the occasion. After thinking about this some more I realized that when I've been successful in dealing with stressful situations, I usually didn't see the situation as stressful as in 'I'm so stressed', b...

One thing that puzzles me about this is, why do I persist in thinking about some things and not others? I'm not sure why this is, but I think we can all control this to a significant degree. I suppose one step is to realize that I can choose at least some of what I think and all of my responses.

If I noticed the things you did, I might tell myself, "task at hand, bigger picture." That's a good idea. I'll try to put that in my cues: "What's the bigger picture here?" or "Does this really make sense"? I've often lacked the ability to see that in the moment but if...

mental big rocks

I don't know if this is true of anyone else , but a common pattern with me is that thoughts stay with me for a long time. I imagine it's related to the fact that I tend to not let go of activities or people that aren't good for me any more and in some cases never were. So the persistence is a thing ...

mental big rocks

“What actions and attitudes keep me in the best head space?” Another way for me to approach this is, what actions, speech and attitudes lead to me not being in a well functioning head space? If I look at what I think every day, I see a pattern. I fill my mind with bad thoughts. Not all day, but too...

That's a good exercise. I've been struggling with it for the last few days. I haven't found many commonalities so far, except staying focused on the job at hand. Which has led to a lot of problems with tunnel vision. When I get dialed in I can often get the specific thing done that I set out to do b...

I look at it as: “What actions and attitudes keep me in the best head space?” That meta view has been hard for me to find, although it is important, even essential. Another tough one for me is to determine what the best head space even is. Naturally different jobs require different mindsets. I have...

mental big rocks

Ian King had the big rocks metaphor. Put the big rocks in the jar. Most of us here have read a lot of meditation/mindfulness/blahblah but what are the big rocks? My best guess right now is something like: : clear perception of the facts rational/logical comprehension of the situation avoiding known ...

It's worse than that, though. The power elite don't want us to be happy in our enslavement, bad as that would be. They want us to be miserable but unable to do anything.

Idiot lenny's current situation

Lenny, I'm not a doctor and not an expert but you seem to be in a for real manic phase which means you can't entirely trust your own thinking right now. For sure when someone is in the state of mind you're in, taking any stimulants isn't good for you so I think you should stop with the caffeine and ...

Dr Peter Attia's advice

I started listening to Attia's conversation with the more plates more dates guy but he lost me when he said he never prescribes more than 150 mg/ wk test. There's no point in going on at all with such a puny dose IMO. He harped on how it was physiological, as if surpaphysiological was some kind of b...

Idiot lenny's current situation

I don't know if any of this is relevant to your situation but for some reason this comes to mind. You may not have time or energy for it as it's a long podcast but James Sexton, a divorce lawyer, speaks about his experience seeing it from different sides.

Why do we lose our way?

* Hanging out with the wrong people * Chasing the wrong goals * Not trusting my gut or inner compass I've done all of those things. When something happens to us, we can build internal walls to protect ourselves. But those same walls can also imprison us. That's a good thought. I have done this my w...

Why do we lose our way?

I've lost my way. I greatly prefer reading to watching videos, and prefer a quality doc or feature film to junk. But I watch a lot of junk and don't read as much as I want to or should. I used to enjoy lifting and other exercise and now I have to force myself and don't do as much as I need. I haven'...

After watching that video I went on a Douglas Murray binge. His conversation with Chris Williamson was interesting. The first hour was kind of tedious but it got good in the second half. I would express an opinion about what he was saying but part of it was a Jeremiad against opinions. So to respect...

I may be having a surreal life moment. I know I posted this video and I thought it was in this thread. I'll get rid of this one if I can find the other one. I just spent 20 minutes looking for it.

That's true. I assumed he was missing but maybe he just doesn't want to reply. Or fifth, he's gone off the grid.

I see three possibilities. He's on a mission for the government. He's been abducted. He's been killed. In cases one and two, you're putting him in some danger by looking for him. If he's gone already there's nothing to be done. So I would think the thing to do is wait. Hard to do, but you've already...

Not only is it nigh impossible to translate from one language to another with the entire meaning intact, the Pentateuch was written in a deliberately poetic style. Calvinists interpreted evocative metaphor as literal truth, both from Hebrew and Greek, which also was written with shades of meaning ut...
